I had the tire store put on five LT295/70R18 Wildpeak AT3W tires on the Tundra TRD rims mounted with Spidertrax 1.25" spacers. I removed the "mudflaps" and did some heatgun remodeling behind the tires and also removed the small 4" flaps in front of the tires that also rubbed. I still have some rubbing in the front when in reverse and when AHC is set to low, I pretty much cannot steer at all.

I ordered some Denso TPMS sensors from Rockauto but the FedEx shipment has been stuck in Elko for a week so I had the shop put in their aftermarket crap. Of course, after 50 miles, the TPMS light came on and checking via techstream shows the old TPMS codes are still programmed in. I planned on keeping the old rims with the snow tires for next winter and wanted new sensors that should last another 10 years instead of all the hassle of swapping over the old ones (that are 6 years old already). Ugh. I now have to decide whether to go back and have them re-scan the sensors they put on and program them myself via techstream and try to return the denso sensors if they ever arrive. Or, I can wait until they arrive, take them back, have the denso sensors put in and get my $400 back for the tire store sensors. What a waste of time.

If you find a shop that has a tpms handheld scanner, they can read installed codes and reprogram with your techstream (or their tool) bia obd2 without removing anything.

Unless you have pics of the tpms ids or labels on hand prior to install, then you can plug in to techstream and program it in yourself at home.

Those tires look GREAT! Rims really fit the style of the truck too between the contrasting black and silver.

How does she drive, tow, and brake with the larger tires?

Thanks.

I hadn’t towed with this prior to the tires since we picked up the LX in November. Prior to that we used our GX470 (with lift 33s and Bilsteins) for towing. Compared to that, the LX is so much better. Being a wider and 1500 lbs heavier, other than acceleration and MPG, you really forget the trailer is there. It feels super stable, smooth and confident @40 PSI. I ran my GX at 55 PSI to reduce the squishiness that came with the heavy load and soft suspension.

Without towing, my MPG did take a 1.5 MPG hit after compensating for the larger wheel diameter.

My question for you is: how do you have your hitch set up? With the adjustments on my WD hitch, I can either be 0.75 above or below the coupler height but not perfectly even. With springs, I would go higher because they’d sag once everything is hooked up but AHC removes the sag.

I don’t think I’ll be above 65 MPH much so I don’t care too much about the lowering at higher speeds.

Thanks.

I would go a bit low in the front. I would rather drag my hitch than the back of the trailer.

Thanks.

I've had several setups. At the moment, I've maxed out the drop on my stinger and wind up sitting .75" high at the nose of the trailer. Not saying this is preferrable but it works for me as AHC at speed will lower, leveling my trailer and adding WD tension. The leveling at speed is useful in that it probably presents the least amount of aero load which is what I want to maximize MPG. The larger tires does unfortunately trick the speedo. Stock lowers at ~62mph, but with 35" tires, it's now closer to 68mph.

I've previously had it leveled statically, lowering nose down at speed. Stability seems about the same.

I don't think there's a wrong and .75" is within the noise. Maybe what @a200 says if dragging is a problem.

I thought the 20 MPH head wind was the big cause for my terrible (8.7) MPG while towing our 23 foot airstream but our return home was in no wind at all and I only improved to 9.6 MPG. Oh well, I didn’t buy it for the fuel economy.

*these numbers are from the dashboard. Add 6-7% for real MPG due to tire diameter.

I went back to the tire store and after 5-6 tries, poor Antonio finally got the sensors programmed. He was so confused by the fact he couldn’t find a ‘Lexus’ listed under the various toyota models on his programmer tool.

This morning, I used the secret code to get into the menu to re-align the cameras with the slight lift the tires give and change the color of my LX. (*these aren’t the adjustments I actually ended on)

I also got underneath and moved the fender liners forward with new holes, trimmed the splash guard and the tires no longer rub.

What is the secret menu/code for camera adjustment?

Didn’t know it existed, but would definitely change settings if I can!

Details here for various years
Thanks! Awesome info, but is there another code to get all options?

Looks greyed out and I can’t click on the adjust camera option.

If I remember correctly, you select the grayed out item and do a long press and it’ll let you in.

I finally got around to installing a CarPlay module “as a safety feature” per the wife since she doesn’t get along with the oem navigation.

I used the Amazon unit from this post:

Cheapest Carplay and AndroidAuto Retrofit under $300? 2016+ LX570 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cheapest-carplay-and-androidauto-retrofit-under-300-2016-lx570.1317115/

It works quite well after some tweaks like turning off joystick sounds in the oem interface, maximizing volume and changing the Bluetooth echo settings in the module settings. I’m sure I’ll have some other observations with more time but so far, it’s been well worth the sub $300 cost.

At some point, I’ll wire in the rca video in to hook to the rear camera in the travel trailer to have a 12” rear view monitor while towing.

Found the Lexus emblems you used on your rims through this thread. Any recent photos? Did you ever do a sensor lift?

Yes. I lifted the front sensors a bit to level it out. I think the rear had been adjusted previously. Here’s how it sits now on “HI”
