I'm going to try to determine if there is any play in the pistons before I go any further. Going to try the screwdriver end through the spark plug hole.
I have also read about that bushing that's not available....if it were this...would explain where I was hearing the noise through the stethoscope.
I'd watch. I will be checking all I can on the engine out of the 80 before it goes into the LX. I will be doing the work since I'm cheap and like to take things apart just to put them back together. This thread is pretty informative so keep up the good work.Neighbor made a good point....with 215k miles what's sitting in the bottom of the oil pan is probably normal. I actually almost got the video running last night. Who wants the URL? Might be entertaining watching a poor mechanic like myself fumble around.
