Just a heads up that on a 2002 LX 470, owner's manual shows the tilt/telescope fuse to be #50 in the fuse panel at the driver's side foot panel (North American model) but it also shows that same fuse as controlling the the SRS system. So pulling...

I live in a suburban neighborhood north of Austin that's become more and more diverse over the 17 years we've lived in our house. I was working on my green UZJ100 late afternoon the other day and I saw an older gentleman walking slowly around the...

Hard to identify what you are referring to, but if it's the occasional metallic sound, it seemed to me to be coming from the bell housing maybe.

Curious as to what didn't fit. I bought mine on ebay for a 2002 LX 470 and it fit. I suspect it might have something to do with how many controls/wires are in the clock spring. Maybe post a photo of yours and the one which didn't fit.

Didn't you order one on eBay?

This is a good point, but parts availability for Toyota diesel engines has improved dramatically over the last five years, not only are there 5-7 importers that are pretty good with parts availability, but with Partsouq, Amayama and others, most...

Without hesitation I would choose the diesel but I have a fair amount of experience working on diesels and driving a 70 series briefly in Australia. But, you should be aware that very few diesel mechanics have experience working on Toyota...

We paid $15k recently for a 2002 lx470 rust free with 143k and suspension recently swapped out for the LC lifted version by Slee. It still had the original plastic heater T's and a busted clock spring though. Timing belt was done. That price...

A 12 volt lead acid battery at 12.5 volts is only at 70% of capacity. A full charged 12 volt lead acid battery should read 12.8 volts at least. 12.2 volts is 50% discharged. I suspect you have a parasitic draw draining the battery. You could...

Urban Auto Car on East Evans has resolved emissions problems on my 80 series a few times. Can't directly speak to their expertise on 100 Series. I think they charge around $200 minimum diagnostic fee.

Yes. I would measure it where the vacuum line attaches to the booster. I use a MityVac. It's also useful for testing whether or not the booster is holding vacuum.

New LX470 owner here who ran across this thread. I had no idea. I'm attaching a picture of my tool kit. Looks like I have a wheel key but nothing that looks like a key for the spare tire winch mechanism. I looked to see if the winch mechanism...

I wouldn't replace the booster again without confirming that it is actually getting the appropriate amount of vacuum.

As suggested above, have you checked the vacuum level going to the booster?

Update: I ordered a cut-by-photo key with remote off ebay. I'll update after it arrives and I try to program it. Cost with tax was about $65 so it seemed worth the price to give it a shot. Ace was charging $100 for a non-remote key and $300...

Unfortunately no. They kept the keys to return to their supplier for a refund since they considered them duds. They plugged a device into the OBDII connector and then accessed it with a tablet in order to do the programming.

Thank you. I did find the security light, perhaps because now it is dark outside. The light goes out upon insertion of each key. From what I gather this means I have two master keys. I purchased a non-remote key and they attempted to program...

Recently bought an 02 Lexus LX470. Got two keys, one with a remote and one without. Both are cut the same. I think this means both are valet keys or both are master keys. I tried to get a new master key made at Ace Hardware today and while...

An additional thought, I think there has to be some mechanism in the SRS computer for checking the ground on the airbag system since there's a code which sets of the light when this happens. I believe this disarms the airbag in some say since...

02 L here. I just replaced my clock spring. Had the same wires but it looked to me as if they simply dead ended. I couldn't figure any reason for them either. Could it be some kind of ground for the horn? I also couldn't figure out the horn...

I recently replaced the clock spring/spiral cable on our 02 LX470. It was in very bad shape when I disassembled the spring itself. All the insulation was gone from about 2" of the wire and the copper had been folded back on itself a number of...
