Been researching about improving my headlights and almost ready to pull the trigger on HIDs but came across these LEDs at the Retrofit Source. These look like improved LEDs with pretty good output and they have a video of side to side comparison with older generation LEDs. It seems to be a much simpler way to upgrade. Anyone here with any input or experience with these? Think these were released in November 2018. I just don't have the time to pull the headlights and take them apart to install an HID system.

Yes, I purchased the 2.0 lights back in October to put in my LX. They're better than the halogens I had, but not overwhelming. Overall I enjoy them if for anything the light color, in my opinion, lights objects more naturally. Instead of a yellow beam it's more white. There's quite a bit of trimming you'll have to do to the projector caps if you have an LX as there are fans attached to the lights. The fans are a bit loud too. You can't hear them when the truck is running but since the lights stay on a bit after the engine shuts off you can hear them then. I attempted to install another pair in the fog lights spot but am second-guessing that decision. I think I'm going to just put a halogen in the fog lights as I'm afraid that trimming the projector cap will all the ingress of water and moisture into the lens, being that the housing is more exposed to the roadway, ditches, etc.

Here's the color compared to halogen:

And here's a shot of the broadcast at night showing the color of the lighted ground which I enjoy better than the yellow tint lights.

IMHO aftermarket plug-and-play LED headlights have yet to reach their full potential. You never stated whether you'll be installing these in a LC or LX, but I can tell you installing them in a reflector housing will not be very impressive as opposed to a projector. I'm sure there are several other members on here who have them and have their own opinions of whether they're worth it or not; but to me they don't seem much better than upgrading to HIR 9011 and 9012 to replace 9005 and 9006 bulbs, respectively. Of course I'm sure people have differing opinions on that as well. Check out the headlight thread I linked below, it's one of the most informative threads on bulbs that I've come across to date and has a lot of data on several different bulb types.

The Best Headlight Bulb On The Market Today

I bought the previous version (not 2.0) for my 02 LC and although they were really bright, they didn’t work well at all. They aren’t adjustable and with the headlight base the install was more of a 30-45 degree angle rather than straight up and down how they are intended to be. There was no way to adjust it into the base properly and the 9005/9006 adapter couldn’t be modified without basically destroying it. The light scatter was all over the place and for the very short term I had them installed (less than 1 week) I would constantly have people flashing their lights at me.
It may work in the LX but definitely not in the LC light housing.
I put them in my 2011 WRX in the DRL/ high beam and they work absolutely great, but only because the housing accepts the bulb to be straight up and down.
It’s a great bulb just not for the LC.

Thanks for the responses. Based on the comments I'll probably skip the LEDs and really think about installing HIDs. I just want to do it right and only once.

I kind of had the same evolution of thoughts on mine. After installing LED fog lights, it was painfully clear how poor the original low beams in the LX are. So I opted for a full retrofit and I'll be starting it tonight and hopefully wrapping it this weekend. I figured if I'd spent so much money on good parts for the truck already, it was a small price to pay for objectively the best possible light output short of having a crazy custom set up made.

Let me know how it goes. I plan to purchase the bracket for the LX. What are the other parts you ordered for the retrofit?

To make a crappy set up slightly less crappy I installed Lasfit LED’s in my DEPO headlights

What’s awesome about the DEPO headlights is that it’s internally wired so the install is a breeze. I did modify (aka cut a hole) is the rubber cap to allow the led fan to circulate fresh air more easily.

It’s been a year with no complaints. Not amazing but hi & lo beams are led, coupled with jeep jk led fogs put the provided h7 halogens to shame.

Signal & parking light are led and I have a pair of led arb signals to install when it warms up. Really excited about these as I’ll get rid of the orange lens.

This is all child’s play! I spoke with @Luke111 not long ago and plan on him fabricating a set for my wife’s LX. It comes at a price but the product is definitely worth it. I’ve been selling stuff on eBay to save up money - already have a few bucks stashed away. It’s amazing how much “stuff” i have sitting around.
