Cruiserdrew
On the way there
If you saw the other thread about H55fs you saw my tranny t-case in progress. Tonight I got the rear output preload shims from Cruiserdan. To get the right preload I had to install, test, un-install, drive out the race, new shim, re-install, 3 times! It took about an hour. I was able to bolt up that part of the case and snap a pic. As usual, Cruiserdan was invaluable here and sent me the shims by 2 day express. I bought almost a full set of shims and then Andrew (Asief007) offered to send me his set of out-put shims-thanks for the kind offer.
Right now I have the case basically done and bolted to the tranny. I'm waiting on the input shaft cover (new one on the way from guess who) since the old one was pretty corroded looking. I would have worked fine, but it looked like it came from New Jersey with rust pitting and ugly funk.
I was out in the garage shifting the tcase in and out of high range and engaging the 4 wheel drive-my wife thought I was nuts. I still have to either swap the output flanges or get some new ones, but I think my friend Jeff Kauffman on this board is coming to the rescue with the flanges off his parts cruiser.
Just a couple of pics:
