I always keep those moisture wicking packages that come in electronics and other stuff, and throw them in my gun safe to keep moisture controlled. I wonder if you can throw a few of those in there, to control the issue?

I'm not sure though if one of those bags bounced around and got wedged between the contacts what might happen ?

hot glue or zip tie it to a cable then?

Worked on my washer bottle relocation bracket yesterday. Big thanks to @Jorgito for letting me take some measurements and pictures of his bracket. I started with a sheet of 16ga steel. First things first, have to transfer some measurements over to the steel.

Initial cutting and trimming to get the shape of the top.

Then bend it to fit around the cruise control box

First set of holes drilled and measuring for the lower brace.

Almost done, just a little work with the grinder to soften up the corners and its off to the spray boot. I'm not going to show you the back side because I really really really need to get a better welder. I promise its not just me. If anybody has a nice little 110 unit for a good price PM me. The old HF flux core 90 amp isn't going to cut it for my future projects.

While we're waiting for that to dry we can just install this new battery tray.......

Need to figure out exactly how I want to mount my winch solenoid so I can get the big badlands back in service. Hoping to work on that a little later today.

Ok, so there was a lot of back and forth about where I was going to mount the Albright contactor for my winch. My original plan was to install it to the side of the PS battery box. I got to thinking about it and didn't like the idea 1) of it hanging from the side of the box and potentially fatiguing the plastic over time and 2) being on that side of the box would expose it to heat direct from the exhaust manifold. So while I was debating the location I decided to at least move forward and make the bracket.

I played with the bracket a bit before finally settling on the location. Afterwards, a little welding, softening of the edges, and a trip to the paint booth. ( really need to get one of those powder coaters like @2fpower has ). Here is the final product in its new home.

The winch will run from the primary battery and I'm about 99.9% sure I'm going to install a secondary, just debating on what system I will use to interface the two. Now its time for some creative wiring !

That Pass side battery tray. Is that new? Part number?

  • 1 x 7440360100 Carrier Sub-Assy (the tray)
  • 4 x 9017906223 Nut - Battery Clamp (hold the battery securing bar)

you can buy the 2ga wire at Hohenschild's and I have a crimping tool if you need one.

I appreciate that, already got some 1/0 from Amazon and the tool last week. You guys need to live closer to me so we can work on our trucks together !

easier to crimp em first, then hit em with a torch and add the solder. did that on chef's relocation. agree.. birkenstocks are not what to wear when doing that..

So now that you have been running them for awhile, what's your take on the Kuhmo's? Road noise? Wear? Off-road traction?

I picked up some extra rims and some used 315's that I will use for now but already thinking ahead about new 315's.

So far they've done everything I want. I would like to get them into some mud and see how they perform. Rain, snow, and general off road use, including the mountains in CO they've kicked butt. They seem to have a very strong sidewall and I really don't worry about them getting cut by rocks after I saw what they did up in the mountains. They have a very slight hum at highway speed but its not nearly enough to be annoying and I have fairly good hearing.

I'll post up on Kuhmos as well. They've exceeded our expectations in performance and not as obnoxious in sound as we had anticipated. I swear they still need to wear down to be flat across the blocks as they are kinda rough at low speeds. Mitch Digs Them! Mud??? Here u go.

We love 'em. They definitely seem to rumble as you're starting and stopping.

Thanks for the input. Thinking that I will get some when the time comes.

Half K - I don't think you have regeared. How were the 315's running around Colorado? Any plans to regear?

Well, I have enough trouble keeping it over 70mph between Topeka and Lawrence so it didn't really do any better up in CO. Most trails I would lock it in 4LOW and it would be fine. I would love to re gear to 4.88 but i've never done gears before and I don't have the equipment.

Installed a used set of L shocks courtesy of @Jorgito . Surprisingly enough, they must be in better shape then what was on the truck because it rides a little better then what it did. I am assuming that when brand new the OME kit is pretty well sorted. My shocks probably had 70-80k on them and I guess they just had enough.
