Big thanks to @cjmoon for helping me get the Lexus wheels. I think I will take your advice and paint them with something that has more texture to it, that way it will hide the scratches and pitting. Not sure exactly what I will use yet, but I think you might be on to something with the liner. I will have to find something paintable with more of a fine texture to it.

They are bronze, I stripped all the gold off and repainted. Also I would highly recommend Discount Tire. Got me in first thing yesterday morning, good customer service, and good prices.
Lookin' good! I've always liked the tread on the Kuhmo's. How'd you end up picking those?

@cjmoon that texture looks pretty good to me. Not real grainy, more of a smooth finish. I think a little texture would help fill up the pitting and take care of the uneven spots. I may give that a shot. All this painting makes me wish I had a media blaster, would be a lot quicker.
My top 3 were Cooper STT Pro, STT, or these. The STT and these got rave reviews everywhere I looked. However the STT is going away and being replaced by the pro so it is getting difficult to find them. For what it would have cost me to just buy 4 of the STT Pro I was able to purchase 5 of these and have them mounted and balanced. It really could have swung either way, I just figured I'd give these a shot.

Still waiting on word of my AOE front bumper. Lots of odds and ends part left up on the shelf that need to go on. But first its time to seal up some leaks before Colorado.

Took Moby apart over the 4 day. I had quite the leak coming from the oil pump seal. Took the time to replace all cooling hoses, water pump, heater hoses, VC gasket and spark plug tube grommets, dizzy o-ring, front main and did a leak down test. Got it all buttoned up and re timed.

AOE was a complete flop, waiting on the phone with VISA to talk to there fraud protection people. Don't ever order from Alex at AOE, his stuff looks cool in pictures, but that's all you'll ever see of it. So instead I ordered this.........
The Slee bumper is so much better looking in person that the pictures can't do justice. It is such a well thought out design. I ordered this from Ben @sleeoffroad last Thursday, got a call Monday that it was ready to be picked up. Drove up to KCI on Wednesday after work and picked it up from what is arguably the most dangerous warehouse in the CONUS. There must have been 10 forklifts running full blast through the 1000 sq ft loading area. These guys were driving around like crazy @$$holes ! I've been in burning buildings that were safer ! I left unscathed and immediately went home to button up Moby and get the bumper installed. Here's a shot from behind the station last night.
And one more of the IPF 900's installed.

That really is a sweet front setup. For me, it's a toss up between Slee and 4x4 Labs for the front bumper. Looks awesome!

Well Moby made the trip up to CO and back just fine. My persistent valve train rattle didn't get any worse, but you could sure hear it when I was holding gears going up the passes. I did discover that my speedometer is off by 10% due to the larger tires. My buddy and I ran five passes on our third day. Starting with Red cone, then down the back of Webster, came back up Deer Creek/St Johns, down the North fork of the Swan River, then raced against the fading light to get over Georgia pass and back to camp before nightfall. We then pulled camp in the dark and made a 40 mile run down past Fairplay to set up in another location for the run up Mosquito pass the next morning. Did Mosquito, Birdseye gulch and came back across Weston pass to finish off the tour. Here's my favorite shot, from the bottom of Red Cone. Had to pull the load bars on the way up as we got close to catching them on several Aspen tree's.

Love the Red Cone/Websters pass area. One of the best places for the fall. Where the leaves turning on the aspens yet?

Looks like doing the oil pump and dist o-ring really knocked down my oil consumption problem. Looks like the only thing leaking now is the oil pans. Pretty impressive considering I was putting in a quart every 500 miles and now my light just came on after +1500 miles of hard driving. I'm saving about $3 a week for a job that probably takes less than 3 hours ! Plus no more unsightly oil spots every time I park my rig somewhere.
