I just ordered a Metal Tech family cage and want to attach new shoulder belts to the cage. My 40 only has lap belts now so I don't know where to attach them or what style of mount. Does anyone have pics of what the have.

Greatly appreciated....

I was thinking of ordering from them and called to figure out options for shoulder belts. The guy I talked to said they could attach small mounting brackets with holes in them for shoulder harnesses. I think some of the pics on the website show this.

Call them and ask.

Ya, the cage is already in transit so it's to late to have them do anything. So I was hoping to gather some different pic to show the shop thats installing/welding mine so they could 'git-r-done'.

Thanks,

I bought the brackets from Metal Tech which to be welded onto the B-colunms of the cage to mount the shoulder seat belt, they're really simple, cost me 30 bucks or something like that.

Its probably going to look like a family cage with seat belt tabs welded to it. :meh:

The receiving end of the seatbelt gets bolted to the seat frame and the other part goes up on the cage. If you have a Toyota "roll bar" as I do, just cut the tabs off and weld them back on where it logically fits for you.

If you dont have the tabs, go to a hardware store with your seatbelt and get a bolt that accepts the threads. Go home and drill a hole in some 3/16" steel that is bigger than the bolt diameter.

With a bolt, screw the bolt on through the hole, being sure to protect the threads by threading it all the way through. Weld the bolt to the plate by pulling the bolt square with the material. Once it cools, back the bolt out and weld the plate to the cage wherever it makes sense.

Its a half bannana job.

I didn't know they sold them. I bought my lower brackets from cruisersolutions.com Made my own upper piece.

Here's mine. It is a Metal Tech OEM repro roll bar. A simple "L" bracket welded to the roll bar holds the top part of the seat belt. Another "L" bracket holds the seat belt roller (?) to the base of the roll bar. Not pictured is the other end of the seat belt that attaches to the stock location. So, basically, 2 "L" brackets holds mine on with grade 8 hardware.

The seatbelts pictured are CCoT seatbelts.

Good luck!

I was thinking the same thing, but I have a bench up front...besides welding in bar across the back of the seat between to roll bar, anyone try placing a shoulder belt in the center seat location...you know, to have three up front?

I might just buy a second set of older front seats, and modify them to have the belts in the seats...sort of like the center belt in 100's. Then I can just put back the original seats to be stock again...make any sense? Remember, this will be a very light duty rig when the resto is completed.

Thanks for the picts...that's exactly what I might do if I build a DD...except three in a row.

Right now it's a restoration project, and so I am looking at options for a safe way to enjoy the rig on short Sunday type rides, and then wrench in back to stock in an afternoon when I want to.

Thanks again...I saved your picts on my hard drive :)
