Anyone Get their 2.5" OME from Man-a-Fre instead of Slee? Any difference aside from service aspects?

-Sam-

no differance at all, I have had good luck with them for years now, I do know Al though, that helps, hell I will sell you dang ole OME easy enough. Just got my dealership. doh!

Not to knock any Vendors on this board... But the Old Man EMU stuff can be bought through most shops, at competitive prices if you shop around.

Now if your looking for the 6" Slee's that another story...

-Ammo

Ammo, true enough. ARB has a MAP (minimum advertised price) policy that is an attempt to level the playing field. However there are a lot of internet (not MAF) type dealers that do not adhere to this policy. One of the reasons are that they buy from big WD's (wholesale distributors) so they are 2 steps removed from ARB which makes policing the policy very difficult on ARB's part. Sad but true. The ones that gain are consumers that buy stuff at really cheap prices (nothing wrong with that) but the ones that suffer are the legit dealers.

We see it time and time again that someone would sell suspensions or bumpers and make less than $50 profit on a $700 sale. There is no way you can run a business on that margin and still provide good customer service and/or after sales service.

The only way that you can do that is if your only purpose are to move boxes and hope to never speak to the customer again, except to get another order. If you have to do any exhange, warrantee return, support call on installation or even pre-sales consulting, you simply can not afford it.

Again, MAF is not one of these. We all try to play fair. Sometimes they get the sale, sometimes we do. Same with all other ARB vendors on this board. Yes, it costs money for Steve O, David, Gary, Kurt and some that I do not even know to be on these boards. We do it for the love of the industry and a genuine feeling of helping people. So our prices are typically higher, but as in everthing in live, you get what you pay for.

If a deligent shopper does his homework (on his own, not tying up some dealers time) and has concluded on his own that he needs x model springs etc etc, there is nothing wrong with shipping for the best price. However if the deal turns sour, component does not perform as expected, then do not waste dealers time to get free info.

This might sound like a rant, but it happens all the time and we know when we are being used, however we never say anything about it to the customer. I know it happens to all the other guys as well. Just part of being in this business.

So sometimes these venues are the only places where we can state our case and it hopefully falls on a sympathatic ear.

Time for 2nd cup of coffee this morning.

That's good Dan, I may use that one sometime :D

I bought my OME lift from MAF, Garie S. was in our local club at the time and was working for them out of Phoenix. I was able to get all parts from MAF w/o shipping cost. Garie and Dave are great guys that have alot of passion for Landcrusiers. With guys like them service wont be a problem for anyone. Of course, second choice would be Slee - most of my other accessories are from them.

Slee > MAF :D

I gotta say MAF is to So Cal. what Slee is to colorado. Good patient people, espcially Steve. I'm having my lockers installed there.

I had a gift shop with custom cycles, not worth the problems its better to be a professional, who cares about sleep and everyones problems

Hey, Michael, instead of telling us to disregard it, why not hit the edit button and fix it?

Spring Shines?

I am very sorry for your past experiences with us. We have had some bad apples with us in the past, and of course, they are no longer with us. I do not think I will be able to gain your business back, I can understand that. But as of right now, we have a very good team of sales and tech reps that I am very proud of. We have been in business about 40 years, have come a long way, and are still growing. In this time, if we have upset you for any reason, I would like to formally apoligize. So with both of your opinions spoken, I have definately taken note of your problems. I am currently trying to make sure that this will never happen again with any of our future clients. Thank you for your honesty, just try to be less harsh next time. Steve.

I bought my OME stuff through Central 4WD in Everett WA, for two reasons.

They had great prices and have always provided exception supprt.

I had them arrange for me to pick up my springs and stuff at the ARB loading dock in downtown Seattle so I didn't have to pay any freight.

Otherwise I would have ordered from Christo.
