mine was there originally so I am not sure where it came from to be honest. I have seen other designs that are more flexible, and mine does not have "steel ribs inside" - it is just semi-flexible (but stiff) tubing. Noah's looks like radiator hosing... anyway, mine is 2.25" OD.

Nice job on the tank vent. I should be saving all of these posts as I'm gonna have to go through the same thing if i ever get around to installing my auxilliary tank.

get around to it and mount it up, it is a real bonus to have one as I get use out of mine weekly it seems - even when just DD.

BTW, there are numerous other helpful posts I have done in tech about getting an auxillary tank cleaned & lined, adding a sending unit, drilling into one, etc. Search here in tech as there is a lot of other useful information in those threads than just the topic they cover.
