It has a chance to fit without spacers and may come down to the specific tire you choose and how aggressive the shoulders of the tire carcass is. It'll be close to the upper UCA.

That said, if I can appeal to some other considerations. Suspension geometry is keyed to tire size, specifically scrub radius. It's why OEM fitment RockWarrior with 285/70R17s, having similar overall dimensions of 32.7"x11.2", have built in offset of +50 (vs stock +60). Also, with a tire lift, COG increases. Some added track width with less offset can help for cornering stability.

Optimally, a 295/55R20 would have wheels having a ~48mm offset. Pairing stock wheels with a .75" spacer puts it at a pretty good +42. I believe Bora has .75" spacers in 5x150 PCD that fits our rigs.

Though if you can get 295/55R20s to clear without spacers, it'll still work pretty darn well.

I am going with 1" spacers for my '11 LX on OEM rims. I have always had pizza cutters on my trucks and 4rs. I am not crazy about width, I am not lifting nor do I care to with the AHC. 275/60r20 ok? Too small? Trying to get to 33".

I've got this size Falkens on mine and I don't love them. The ride has a lot more instability on corners than the original tires. I'm actually thinking about getting rid of them in favor of some defenders. If you're interested in them, I'll make you a good deal.

I have a chance to put slee sliders on, but they don’t have bulb covers in and said months out to have them. I can’t stomach having the bulb sliders off catching on rocks.

I need some recommendations for my 14 LX. I have read through a number of tire threads, and I’m probably more confused than ever. I would prefer to stick with the stock wheels unless I could find a 18” tire/wheel combo that was around the same price, but that does not seem possible. No spacers, if possible. I do want to increase tire size, and I would like to find a tire size that does not require any mods.

This truck will go off road, but it will mostly be forest roads (dirt and gravel roads). Some will be rutted and muddy. I will definitely spend more time on the highway than on dirt roads. I drive approx. 15-20k per year. I will tow a boat or trailer at times. Some noise or a truck like ride does not bother me (I have a built 470 and have had several Tundras).

What do my fell mud members think?

For your use case description, pretty much any tire will work.

There will be a myriad of opinions on what load rating and how aggressive you should go. Ultimately that's up to you. I know that i didn't like the 20" wheels with Michelin Tour HPs my truck came with on or off road. I went to a smaller wheel so i have no advice to offer if you keep 20s.

You can certainly get 18" Tundra takeoffs for cheap. These are my favorite of the cheap ones. These can usually be had from $50-$100/wheel. OEM quality and same as 200 series offset. Land Cruiser takeoffs are usually cheap around here as well. If you can find 18s for cheap enough, the savings of buying a tire for a 18" wheel will cover a decent portion of that.

Is there a trade off in drivability between the 285/55R20 vs. the 275/60R20? There seems to be a significant cost savings with the 275/60R20 tires.

A lot depends on the recommended tire pressure, but the 275/60/20 has slightly more sidewall and I would expect would ride slightly better and give you a little more airdown capacity, but may be slightly less performant as far as handling goes (ie taking curves with more sidawall). But the percentages involved are so minor as to be negligible. The difference in sidewall and width is both less than 5%.

I had 285/55/20 KO2s and the RTCIP was 46 and it was a little like driving on wooden wagon wheels compared to my current 285/75/17 setup.

Yeah, there was some massaging of the fender liner, and I had already installed sliders so the mud flaps were not an issue, but not much else. Some folks have had some UCA rubbing in full lock in reverse with this size. It is all manageable though.

I may not need AT tires, but that is what I will get. Maybe something with a less aggressive tread pattern. I don’t know if I can swing a tire/wheel upgrade at the moment though, I’m also in the process of fixing the time cover leak. That has consumed a little more of my preventative maintenance budget than I anticipated.
