So I found a source for the tlc rocker trim for $200 each. That means if my hackin on the running boards fails I have a not cheap, but not heartbreaking expensive fix available. So I ordered this and am taking the sawzall to them this weekend.

The current plan is the disassemble as much as possible, and lop off the remainder. I assume this will leave a hollow upside down v shape. I hope to grind the edge, then have the piece wrapped in black.

Removal notes:
That torx on the mudflap is T30. The connector for the lights releases from the top/car side. The male/small side is on the running board. A two way flex socket extension is useful for a couple of the 12mm bolts on the rocker panel. I didn't pull the AHC skids.
It's really likely that a dummy of some shape is going to be required to fill in at the base for the wrap. We'll see.
I had to take my daughter to ballet before I got the last few trim connectors off . . . hoping to pull the rest before dark tonight.

More Removal notes:
To get it off the car, you just need to undo the flap fittings front and back, the electrical, and the six 12mm bolts. Then there are three or four nylon press fit trim connectors across the rocker, just under the doors.

That is not the route I took. I chose a more adventuresome path.
First I took out the 12mm bolts and unplugged the socket. I thought that there were front release trim pieces behind the textured/flat plastic vertical, so I disassemble the step in situ. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this. And if you do disassemble in situ, leave in the 12mm bolts so you can torque against them. Anyhoo.

To disassemble the running board:
Pry up the plastic corrugated tread. It will break 10 or 12 nylon fasteners/clips. There are 3 10mm bolts and a rivet. Use a cold chisel to snap the rivet head off. The rivet is attached to a small bracket, which can be unclipped.
THere is a metal loadbearing horizontal, it is interclipped with the revealed plastic trim. This metal bar is attached to the brackets / 12mm behind the rockers. This is the trim which is the 'shape' of the rocker. You can release these and pull out the trim. At this point the brackets/metal bar can be removed, and you're left with the fascia trim. It is easy to pry off the car at this point. Don't forget to open the doors.

I have pics, but it's bedtime . . .

Pic 1 - Where the rivet is located at the toe of the running board. It's there in the FSM too.

This the back of the shaped plastic fascia piece. I'll call it the 'glossy piece'. It the only piece that needs cutting or will be reused. This piece has a long narrow oval hole in it after the matte L shaped step portions are removed. The only necessary trimming is to follow the molded curve into the wheel wells.

There will be some hollow behind, not sure how to deal with that yet.

And some glamour shots.

The AHC components are even with the frame members, but below the rocker a good bit.

This is a  job. If that.

Thanks for posting grinchy. Have you ordered sliders yet?

What are going to do with the running board lighting? I'm thinking about an led strip or the like that would illuminate the ground below.

No, I haven't. I'd like to get budbuilt's, but haven't heard back on fitment. I need to get under and see just how much AHC stuff is next to the frame rail.
Slee's page still doesn't have LX570 part on it. I check everyday.
I might drop in on a local 4x shop and see what they quote me to weld on some pipes.
Let me know if you get any fitment information @supercarrera

Stripping out the existing wiring / plug from the running board will make it easy to add whatever strikes your fancy. Rock lights or safety or both. Could likely use the current LEDS too. I've got the carside plug taped off for now. It's going to be some time before sliders are in place probably.

I really just wanted them of the rig so they didn't catch and do real damage up the rockers and doors.

Can a TLC owner please post close-ups of the rocker at the front and rear wheel? I'd like a reference for my cuts on the trim piece. Thanks in advance!

I'm on kid watch today, so slow progress. I got the textured L profile scuff piece unclipped. The light is captive to it, so haven't had to do anymore on that.

Clipped the trim back on the car and tried to see what made the most sense for cutting. At the rear it is straightforward and will follow the rocker pretty well. At the front it dives down all the way to the bottom of the step . . . there's a mudflap here too - not sure if the TLC has a different mud flap design to complement. Decided to cut it on the curve for now - and expect to have to cut it again when the sliders arrive.

On the plus side, if it was to get crushed, only nylon trim catches are involved, so it won't be damaging the rocker any more than smashing a mud flap can.

The worst part? I don't even get to use my fancy carbide tipped sawzall blade. I plan to lop this off with the jigsaw.

Use a multi tool if you have it. Goes through the plastic very easy and leaves a nice clean edge.
