That is interesting, I don't recall trying to troubleshoot it that way. Would make sense if it was running through the LC and head unit amplifiers. Think I will order and hope for the best, hopefully the Teyes return policy is decent.

What is your 2006 production date? LC or LX?

I have a 2006 LX470 and it is working for me. I haven't tested all the features yet, but audio works great and A/C controls are working. I'm able to use the volume knob as well as the steering wheel volume control and phone control.

Someone mentioned a hissing sound earlier in this thread and I have an idea as to what might cause that. The volume knob and the volume on the head unit seem to operate separately. It's almost like having an iPod plugged in to a stereo through a headphone jack. You can adjust the volume of the device and you can adjust the volume of the stereo/head unit separately. When I turn the volume knob all the way up I get a hissing sound, but the volume on the unit is still at the same level. Just turning the volume knob down makes it go away. Does that make sense?
That was me. If I could get rid of the hiss, I feel like I could deal with the rest of the issues.

I understand what you’re saying. It’s as if the native volume is on full blast. My problem is, I don’t have any response from the volume knob.

I’m going to plug everything back in as stock, turn it on, then set volume to low. Then unplug everything and plug the Teyes back in. Fingers crossed. I think I’ve unplugged and replugged this thing in 50 times now!

I wonder if your issues would go away if you used an aftermarket amp? My levinson unit was trash, so I swapped it out. Mine is 2004 though. Just a thought. Mine is working flawlessly now.

In ordinary systems a hiss is from a ground loop. Or your device is defective?

Yeah - It sounds perfect when it's in the stock configuration. So, I guess it must be something in the android device and/or it's wiring. I don't want to bother trying to chase down something that isn't a problem for the stock unit. I'm bummed cuz it seems to be working for you guys!! Oh well - No big deal in the grand scheme of things.

The only real value I see is the back up camera being better at the expense of fit and finish. You can still tell its chinese.

I noticed you have an 06. Do you have the AC and everything else working outside of the noise? Did Teyes send you a fix?

My order just shipped and I have a 06, so maybe I'll have some results in a week or two.

Anyone thinking about doing the 360 cameras?

Totally would have, but got the impression (post-install, of course) that it's a slightly different chipset in the head unit itself that needs to be specified when ordered. When I ordered, I thought it would be an add-on that I could deal with later.

Yah, seems you need the top of line one with the most ram and storage. Still thinking about it.
Really just seems like a lot of work haha.

No, not really. I did get the AC to work, but not much else. Steering wheel controls did work, but no volume knob on the radio. I could not get the backup camera to work either.

My last email to Teyes was requesting a replacement or a refund. I have not heard back from them. It's been three days. Two weeks of messing with it before that.

I have an '06 Land Cruiser. It seems like maybe the people (person? DMCTX?) who have it working so far have LXs. Hard to imagine that would matter, but who knows?

I never really cared to mess with the stereo. It sounds/works fine for me. However, my buddy developed a cool app that uses gps and HAM frequencies to track and locate people. It's like the Garmin mapping app, except you can find people when you don't have cell reception, as long as you're in HAM radio range. Anyway, it would be awesome to have that tracking app running on a nice, clean, built in screen. So, that's why I went down this road. I'm bummed it's not working out. But, I'll just go back to my tablet hanging on a bracket. Not as pretty, but, at least it does hiss!!

Can you share that app?

The brochure said it works for the CC3

Hah! I probably should have asked him before I spilled about it.

His initial intent was to just make something for our crew so that when, for example, two of us leave town on Wednesday and the rest of the group leaves on Thursday, we'd be able to find each other. Only four or five of us are using it right now. However, he's ended up putting a lot of time into it, for fun, and it's pretty slick now. So, he might be considering opening it up to more people. If he does, I will let you know.

He should probably sell it on the app store.
