Rear passenger door is shut and won’t open. I can’t take the door card out. It broke from a friend pulling on the door handle while unlocking. Has anyone been able to open their car door when it was like this? Any advice would be appreciated.

The door handle is trash right? Try to find the cable inside the door handle and pull it using a long needle nose plier.

Is the problem that the door will not open from the inside but it will open from the outside?
I am having that problem now.

Maybe this is the thread that @Trunk Monkey is talking about?

I don't have my LX with me, but I'm pretty sure yours are just the childproof locks they use for children & criminals that sit in the back seat. Open the door up and look for a switch looking thing. It's nothing electronic. Flip that switch up or down or side to side and see if you can open from the inside then. EDIT: See first image in link here for the "switch" I'm talking about: Child safety locks on both back doors constantly stick, now one door won’t shut - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/child-safety-locks-on-both-back-doors-constantly-stick-now-one-door-won%E2%80%99t-shut.737619/

You were right! Thanks. I like when its the easy things.
Someone must have been fidgeting with the child lock switch.

Update: Fixed it about a month ago. You are able to pull the top of the door card off enough to access the inside but it is tight. You need to remove trim around the door but mine was already out because I had to take the headliner out for the dreaded sunroof project. Had to use pliers to pull the cable. Nothing was broken it just got jammed, the door works fine now. My dad had to help me with this one because it was tricky.
