Do you have the old broken part? I wonder if we can fix this like the door actuators?? Let's break that sucker open and try to find a similar motor

Most likely a high torque 540 motor.

Put me down for one if you guys figure it out.- mine no longer works.

Yeah, I too would love to find a cheap fix. I have caught myself on more than one occasion missing the roll of tape I crammed back there to give me the right lumbar support!:)

Don't know if the US seat is the mirror of the Oz seat, but I have the switch on the side of the seat next to the manual controls. My lumbar didnt work, pulled the side trim off, unplugged the switch, plugged it back in again and it worked. Don't know why but it was definately cheaper than replacing it or the motor.

Big thanks to AlabamaLX for sending me his old lumbar motor. I dug into it and found out a few things.

1. the motor is rectangular so neither of the motors I thought might match will work
2. I gave the assembly 12v and it seemed to spin just fine even when I applied some resistance
3. the worm gear on the motor is very difficult to remove. I was unable to remove it. I will try again later

AlabamaLX how did you determine it was the motor and not the switch?

Seat lumbar actuator

I have a similar issue but mine initially works and slowly looses function like others on the thread. I can run it then when it stops working let it sit for about ten minuites and it work again. I think it is a fix like the door locks. Anyone finds a motor let me know. I am going to search as well.

Anybody get their to work by replacing the switch? If so, what is the part number you replaced as mine is hurting my back on a daily basis and I've got my fingers crossed hoping this is the problem.

THanks

Mine is dead, cleaned switch internals, no change. I chalk it up to an LC quirk.
Makes me feel like I have something German.....without actual problems

My lumbar is great at deflating but not inflating, the mechanism does not work as advertised.

Anybody have updates on this? Need the switch part #

You can test continuity through the switch.
Red=12v
Next connection contact must be ground , the next is deflate, the end opposite red is inflate.

Looks like my motor is also gone or at least needing significant work.

Auto-inflate lumbar cushion from relax the back =$30?

Any other motor ideas/fixes? Thoughts on causes if failure?

+1. I tested the connector at the motor and it is indeed getting +12v at each wire when the switch is toggled. I tried "motivating" the motor by moving it back and forth manually, but it just sits there dead. This is a tough $350 repair to justify, but my back is sore after yesterday's 6 hour drive.

I replaced my driver lumbar motor when I bought my truck. After I fixed it, I found out even with it deployed, it's not great support. It hasn't moved from deployed since I replaced the part. Had I known, I would have just manually rigged it to stay deployed.... Just a thought for someone to consider, versus spending $300 on a part.

I have an 2004 LC I bought from a friend that bought it new, when I bought it from him 4 years ago they did not work, have had them tested at the dealership and they told me it was the motors and quoted me like $1200 to replace both.

How much is just the part? Since the OEM's are such P.O.S. I would like to replace mine with an after market motor, does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy the motors?
