GM V8 with matching GM auto transmission

I wonder why we always see GM conversions but not as many ford?
I’ve kind of been a super fan of the ecoBoost engines. I have a 3.5 eco in my van. It has 400 ft torque. They sell them crate and have harness available. You can even boost them further to mega power. So many of them out there too. Lots of take outs available. I’d seriously consider one into a 60 or an 80.

Ok do it. Less talk more walk.

If I had a 62 and wanted to stay auto I think an 04-07 sprinter engine with 4wd sprinter trans would be a nice setup.

From the factory, the 3.5 ecoboost is a notorious pile of s***.
A high displacement, lower reving, powerful, pushrod motor is going to dead ass reliable as long as it's cared for.

Lots of engines have issues. I've seen 6.0 vortecs with crazy issues.

When engines are produced in the half million number you hear of a few issues. I know for a certain newer eco's have very little go wrong. I own one.
As for low reving, a 5.3 rev's more than an eco. When I drive my eco you can do it all under 2K RPM. It's got endless torque. Feels more like a diesel.
As far as reliability goes we have no idea what the 2.8 i going to be like. So many toyota mid 2L diesels were absolute s***. read on the site diesel toys and they won't use them.
But I do feel the 5.3 is a decent engine, but I don't think an eco is lesser of engine.

AFAIK a ecoboost has never been swapped into a cruiser. So since its going into waters that aren't charted, it will increase labor costs of a swap to the point most people would drop the idea and go to a motor where others have done it, all the little obstacles are documented, and can get them on the road faster and easier.
