Currently there are NO LS3 EROD C&C kits available, nor have there been for over a year. Only way to get one is from someone giving theirs up or you had one before the GM/CA-CARB re-negotiation that still has not settled.

LT1 or 4 Erod is the only C&C that is currently available with a backorder from most if not all GM warehouses.
Told this to a guy who wants a swap done he said tlc was going to do his swap for him that's when I said they are on backorder he also said he got a quote for 16 grand to do the swap including the power train I laughed and you better jump on that....

It takes 1/2 of that number to pull an engine from the bottom of a lake and do it yourself! ha! I guess I should not have put EROD or C&C in my title. I should have written a new crate LS3, the 430hp version with a GM Controller to run it.

Hell I'll take 3................ LMAO

Update: I bought an L94 from a wrecked Denali.

Want to talk about transmissions? I am not partial to auto or manual - I don't necessarily want to run the Marks to Toyota LC adapter for the H42 or H55 option but I really, really don't want my Transfer Case to whine either.

It looks like there are two options to meet both of those goals.

TR-4050 with the axis adapter

6L80 with an H2FA and appropriate adapter. (I don't fully understand how to make the H2FA work in the 60 series and function as a part time transfer case yet.)

Anyone figured out how to get the split case not to whine behind an adapter with the automatic option?

The split case didnt whine behind the nv4500 i did last, but if you are forking out the cheese for the tr4050, just run an 80 series tcase. Its better anyways

I do not think they "whine" personally. They make noise, but not so much it bothers me. Personally not a fan of AWD over 4WD. I do love that Tremec 4050 though. The close shifter throw took a little getting accustomed to. My PU has an NV4500 so I am accustomed to them.

My plan is to run the early 80 series case with a spool in it. Then use the dash 4x4 button from a fj62. The button locks the tcase into 4wd high, and the floor lever puts it into low. You are still part time that way. Im like you, i am not a fan of the full time 4wd setup. Its why i dont drive an 80 anymore and have a 60 haha. You can also drop 3:1 gear sets in them without machining the case.

Go 80 t case, mine split case whines when on the throttle and it’s annoying. Dynamat, MLV all helps but it’s still annoying
I too have second skin stick on butyl, closed cell foam, and MLV in my truck and can hear the whine loud enough for it to be annoying. It whines the most at low speeds where you arent really "on it"

Ive tried rebuilding the tcase 3x, replacing the case with a brand new oem toyota unit. 3 different Advance adapters output shaft bearings. 2 different tcase imput gears. 2 different oem trans rubber mounts. Tilting the drivetrain down more than the normal 2 or 3 degrees. Heavier oil. Everything short of replacing the 4l60e. Stethoscope puts the noise coming from the adapter bearing and spud shaft.

Im sure i could try putting a rebuilt 4l60e in there, and that is what the eventual plan is going to be... but im not even going to try it with the split case because the 80 case is known not to whine at all. The output shaft cutoff is longer for the 80 case vs the split case so you only got one shot at it.

Yah I put the blame fully on AA. I spoke to their “engineers” on multiple occasions and was massively unimpressed.

I really like the 6l80, so if I did it again would skip the split case rebuilt and bite the bullet with the H2FA

I spoke with AA before about their 4l80e to split case adapter 7 years ago I think going to an AA actual meeting would be more helpful than their tech for who I'm not sure.

oh damn i didnt realize the split case whines with the 6l80 too??

I think with the 4l60e adapter they kinda copied the marks adapter and cut a lot of corners. The marks adapter has extra indexing in it to perfectly center everything and also shims for the output preload. The AA adapter relies on the spud shaft splines (which could be cut to tighter tolerances), the main adapter bearing, and the bearing that presses into the outer transfer case shell to align and fully support the spud shaft and input gears. I think the spud shaft deflecting like 1mm is the cause of the whine (in my untrained mind at least). Its weird though, because i looked at an 80 series tcase adapter in my buddies truck for a nv4500 and it is a similar design and zero whine

I was wondering if anyone had luck with the Marks 6L80 to Split Case option.

@dbbowen thank you for the summary of how the 80 series TC works in a 60. My only beef with this option is that the sticker on the dash to the TC functionality wouldn't be accurate (dumb I know), so if someone could re-print the sticker I would heavily lean towards this option.

@cruisermatt - I am not that far away from you - are you saying that you can get the 6l80 to quietly work with the Split Case if I ship them to you to bolt together using whatever adapter you feel is necessary, or would you need to have my truck and do that part of the swap at your shop?

My beef with the TR-4050 option is that granny gear, which also summarizes my issue with the H55.

I was just going to use the FJ62 sticker

The TR4050 and nv4500 have a super low first gear, but with the LS you just start off from redlights in 2nd gear

I think I found a good compromise (for my purpose, no off-roading, etc), but it's expensive AF. It is a TR-6060 that has a 4x4 adapter added to it, which allows it to work with any AX-15 to split case adapter, 23 spline output. It is essentially like starting out in second with the TR-4050 and has double overdrives.

Edit: The known not to whine axis adapter potientially will not work with this setup.

What's wrong with the granny gear? I've found it really useful off-roading, and for daily driving I just start in 2nd.

I can see the benefit of the granny gear off-road or towing, etc.

Here's where I am: I am strongly leaning towards going with the TR-4050, with an internal slave and the HF2A Transfer case with the Axis adapter. Does anyone know the bore on the 87 FJ-60 Clutch Master?

Is this the switch for the dash you mentioned @dbbowen?

Do I have this right - I put the HF2A in my truck as described above - with no 12v signal, the T/C is in 2wd mode, assuming I order it correctly from @cruiseroutfit , and when you activate the switch, it will switch to 4wd, HI mode, then you utlize the lever to select low range for either 2wd or 4wd deepening on the dash switch's selection? I guess we will get to the wiring part of it later during the swap.

In the HF2A are Overdrive gears whining?
