Man congrats. I remember that feeling like its 1995 again!!!

I love that brush guard. I've always kept my eye out for one.

Perfect time for top off weather that's not too far away.

Wise words Jerry.

I learned project management, time management, negotiation, barter and budget skills on countless bike and car projects that have served me well in life.

At this point your goal should be getting it on the road. You can install the "crap magnet" later and do the tire, lift kit, power steering, etc after you get it all sorted out and make it a "one kick" truck that starts right up and will drive anywhere.

Get on the road, safe and reliable.

Redo the fuel system - replace or clean the fuel tank, put on all new hard and soft lines.

Replace all the brakes lines - soft and hard and redo the brakes - master, wheel cylinders and calipers.

Get new seat belts.

Replace all of the bushings.

Get 5 good tires.

Have fun!

Wow, I thought you have had it at your place for a while now. Congrats!!!

I am starting a add on power steering project on a 78 either later today or tomorrow so I will have it fresh in my head if you have any questions.

I am right there with Jerry, this truck will teach you a great deal about wrenching and more than likely about yourself as well. I will pass on to you what an engine shop teacher taught me when I was in HS. This truck has already been figured out, engineered and built. It is up to you to do the research involved to maintain it and keep it running. Many before you have learned how to do it, so you should be able to handle it as well.

When in doubt use the Nike (sneakers) theory..........JUST DO IT!!! :)

Glad it is finally in your possession. I look forward to a HAMOM where we can see it in person.

Some of the best advice I got when I purchased my 40 was to be sure to use plenty of PB Blaster or similar before you start turning any nuts, bolts or screws that haven't moved in a while. You might also want to invest in a tap and die kit for those that don't cooperate.

Getting things done (yes, there's a jack stand hidden by the tire).

Can someone tell me what the bracket in pic #2 is? DS fender.

Looks like a bracket I have seen on 62 series that held the radiator overflow bottle

Brysen has a lot of work to do. He's about ready to fire off the engine for the first time since he's had it. John V has been helping him a lot. Once it comes alive it will be brakes, seats and top. He has significant rust in his doors and ambi doors. If anybody has parts to donate or sell cheap to help his cause he could use them. Maybe he will see this post and chime in to give more details.

Just glad to hear he is still plugging away at it.

Brysen's 40 is alive. Today John V and brysen after a lot of hard work had the truck up and running. There are a couple of things to figure out and fixbut it was running. Congrats guys!!!

Hey everyone,

I know I've been terrible about keeping everybody updated and all that. Seems like every time that I've sat down to do it and start a new thread I've gotten busy and never came back to it. Gonna go ahead and wrap this thread up (since I never officially did haha). More to come soon, and a new thread in the tech section!

-Brysen

Speaking of revising old threads, whatever happened to this guy?

He is not on the member list anymore. It appears that he has moved on to bigger and better things.
