Thanks! Definitely taking the southern route this time of year. 1700 of the 2500 miles on 40E.

Stop over in Palm Springs....

Hey!

Ken and I are only a couple hours south of I-40 and we are very close to I-10 in Palm Springs, CA! Pick up your new beauty in San Fran, drive south to Palm Springs, spend the night in the 'travel trailer' and head east, young man!!

JP's urging you to stop in Sedona, AZ is totally on cue! It is one of the most incredible landscapes we've seen since leaving SC in Oct. Look here www.picturetrail.com/ccassee in the November folder. I posted a few of the Red Rock pics but there is NO WAY to express how it feels to be among this geography.

PM Ken or me if you can make a quick hook-up with us after you pick up the Porsche.

Congrats!

CC, PM Sent

Those are fantastic pics! Hope we can work it out.

After I graduated HS in Anchorage, I did a 25 day Outward Bound trip through the Canyonlands in Utah. It's my favorite kind of scenery by far. Really looking forward to seeing it again.

I may have to extend my trip a day or so. :grinpimp:

Whoa, just saw this. Very cool Steen, she's a real looker. Congrats!

Thanks for the offer, I am all over the place with respect to model, year, options, etc. Thought I was ready to pull the trigger and things went sideways. Probably for the best until I narrow my search a bit.

That said, if there is something of note, send it my way.

Enjoy the road trip. We did a few Atlantic to Pacific races during college and they are some of the best road trip memories ever.

There is a lot to think about for sure. Almost more variations than cruisers over all the years they've been around, each with good/bad points.

I'll let you know if I see anything good.

Steen's Arrival Palm Spring, CA

OK, so it's dark and it's blurry but Steen drove over 500 miles to get here. This is his first stop on the 2600 mile trip east.

We are going to have some adult cocktails and large steaks................:beer::cheers::beer::bounce2:

Steen's Departure Palm Springs, CA - 12-14-07

Is he HOT or what??? :bounce2: Oh, yeah, cool car, too!

Hopefully Steen's pictures will come out better. I despise my camera. (there is snow on the mountain in front of the travel trailer)! Maybe Santa will bring me a digital SLR for Xmas

CC, not that I swing that way, but Ken is a good looking man!

I can't thank both of you enough for your hospitality last night. Between the wine, the steaks and most of all the great company, it was the perfect way to start the trip.

Left Alpharetta at 5 and flew to San Fran, landing at 11. I was picked up at the airport in the car and we went to a parking lot to look over the car and do the business stuff. By noon I was on the road south to Hot Springs and the McDaniel rolling palace.

Made great time until I hit LA... then I sat and got to know what it's like to ride a clutch in traffic for a couple hours... the car wants to go fast... didn't like 5mph at all.

Got to Hot Springs around 8 and the festivities began... actually I got there 4 hours after they had begun but caught up as fast as I could. Had a fantastic steak and finally after being up for 23 hrs, I crashed.

Left this morning at 8:30 local and drove 900 miles today. Not much in the way of accomodations in this here part of TX. Stuck in a Holiday Inn Express with a hundred truckers... woohooo!

The car is very nice. There was too much traffic today to really push it, but did log 100 mph a couple times. It doesn't take long to get there! Haven't run into a single problem other than the heat not working. The heaters on these things are very simple so I'm not too worried about it.

Time for some sleep!

I made it!

Got to Jackson Miss last night... about 850 miles from where I was on Fri night. Needed a beer and of course... Jackson is a dry county and the desk clerk didn't know where to find any Shine. I did ask!

Only had another 400 miles to cover today and made it home at 1:00.

Car was flawless other than the heat thing.

It's all over and I'm tired... but I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything. From starting off with visiting CC and Ken (which was excellent) to seeing some of the most beautiful sites through CA, AZ and NM, to being bored to death of West Texas and hating the smell from the gas... both cattle and oil... to enjoying getting back to the land of trees in East TX, Miss and LA, to not having a beer when I needed one last night... not to mention driving an awesome machine, it was an experience I'll never forget. Something everyone should do once at least.

Only regret is I couldn't have spent more time. There were a lot of things I would have liked to have seen and done but... work calls.

Anyone want to buy a west coast car and do a trip... I'll join you!

I was on 20 so through Dallas and then to Shreveport... would have loved to stop there for some Hold'em action! Too far to make the drive today though.

One thing I'll say about west TX though.. the 80 mph speed limit was helpful to shorten the time there!

Try driving across kansas or the dakotas sometime....ugh

(I did it in the winter in a 76 FJ-55...ugh!!!!)

Glad you made it back and the car is all that you hoped it would be!

Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound..... that was a heck of a trip!!!

when I buy my BMW 2002tii out of So Cal this coming spring I'll need a co-pilot

I'm in.

Glad you made it back safely. I love it out there. If only my family were more spread out I would make a trip out there and stay!

Looks liek a sweet ride!!!!

Congrats on a great trip and a super nice ride Steen!

Would love to do the same thing myself someday soon when things settle down a bit.

Steen, you have my dream car! (I want it back.) Hey, it's time to update your signature!

We need more details on your ride: year, mileage, extras, top speed . . . .:grinpimp:
