Any recommendations for detailing? I am NOT a car detail kind of guy, but we're prepping the 100 for shipment to Europe, so would like to get someone to get the interior/exterior/engine bay sufficiently clean to impress the customs folks in Belgium.

I plan to pull all five wheels and pressure wash the undercarriage, but think I should probably just hire an expert to do the rest . . .

Make sure to run the ‘ring 😂

A new metal supplier appears to be coming to town..

Anyone know of a good Indy garage for Volvos or just euro stuff in general in culpeper? My dad, who’s keeping our P2 V70 while we’re abroad, says it’s spewing coolant….

I've got four or five dog crates that are in need of re-plating. They're made in USA, heavy duty units from many years ago. Nobody makes them like this any more. They were done in yellow zinc.

Any suggestions for a place that handle larger items?

Can anyone recommend an exhaust specialist? I’ve been trying to diagnose a sporadic “wobble/vibration” that I thought was coming from my right front wheel “area” (HJ61/12HT). Originally I thought it had to do with alignment or wheel balance. Turns out that a mechanic I have a good relationship with thinks it’s an exhaust system problem between the muffler & center pipe. He says there’s “not enough gap”. English isn’t his first language so some of the conversation is tricky. When I pick it up from him he’ll have his diagnosis & recommendation all typed up, so that may offer better details. He’s a good guy & mechanic but recommended I find an exhaust specialist because he can’t do the work. I’m in Fairfax, so hopefully something close.

Murphy's Motorsports in Warrenton has done the exhaust on several Cruisers for my family and other club members.

Hi Performance exhaust in Manassas get good reviews and I've seen several Land Cruisers in their shop.

sounds like he's talking about the flexpipe after the exhaust header maybe? If you're able to snap a few good photos of the exhaust from the header connection at the engine, down, and back to the rear, eyes here might spy something awry. I wouldn't usually associate a driver front vibration with the exhaust; the fun part about these old vehicles is that it could be several things. Good luck with the diagnosis.

Shipping was not kind to my truck. I ended up with a destroyed front shock (they must've forked it and articulated it enough to ruin the shock), a frozen left rear brake drum, and they broke (but replaced) the parking brake cable. I think the ship was called the Black Pearl, crazy man.

Did you drive it for a while on island before it got here? Does it track straight down the road or dart to the side every chance it gets? Is the vibration at a specific range of speed?

Two requests for the gurus out there if you don't mind!

1 - Wondering if there is someone in the Northern VA area who does a dry ice or plastic pellet blast? Looking for an alternative to weeks of wire wheeling for the undercarriage. I see Sandblast America mentioned - any other pro tips?

2 - I have the usual spot of rust starting under the rear window. Any recommendations to have the glass pulled? (Figured I would do the work other than glass pulling / replacement). Safelite? I also see Windshield City?

Ideally anything in Falls Church or Springfield is the easiest, but can drive from there. Thank you!

Safelite has a lot of horror stories from people with land cruisers that have used them. Windshield city is a safer bet. They're good people

Not LC related, but anyone know a shop in the culpeper area that could replace my 2002 Volvo radiator for me?

Background: I’m in Europe or would do it myself—car is with my dad and the shop I had him take it to initially is all “no user supplied parts” (defending their probably 400% markup on the radiator), and they’re saying AC needs to be purged, which doesn’t seem to be the case, so I’m hoping to find someone a bit more flexible….

I've used Dolphin Auto Repair in Alexandria before. They did a pretty decent job. Several of the guys in the Rover club have used this place.

Josh,

For what it's worth I had to source one last month. I ended up buying a new OEM one through Passport Toyota (Suitland, MD) and driving over to them to pick it up. Technically you can have it shipped for free to your house using the freeship code on their website, but the parts guy said he has never seen one arrive intact. Looks like $413 current pricing through them for the 16400-66081, or $338 for the 16400-66040.

I would call though if you go that route and see how quickly they can have it on the shelf for you.

Thanks again, ended up with Denso unit sourced locally it met my schedule and the price wasn’t too bad- installed Thursday and back on the road!
