That’s good to hear about the ride. Maybe my dentures won’t fall out the window.

Had to chop this a bit to accommodate the anti inversion shackle

Chopped the Ubolts, painted the tips and Ubolts.

Now it’s time to lay the stank on. I just can’t imagine how many Cruisers would still be in the road if owners used this stuff over the years

Amazon it’s about $6 a can. The gallons go a LONG way. The air sprayer puts it in way thinner than the spray cans.I just bought the last can at Advance Auto. $9.99/can for the fluid film brand. Using it on the J%#p.
Lol , I think we can find a lot "build" treads on here that have way less done then this , great work from Nolan .Todd is going to be stoked. This is a solid baseline with additional, tasteful upgrades.
I don't really know what my expectations were here. Nolen and I have been close friends forever so I never processed this like I might have had a "regular shop" done the build. My expectations were exceeded for certain though. Nolen's attention to detail is apparent throughout. Joeri sourced a great baseline rig and that entire process was seamless. The truck is just a fun little rig with plenty of personality. We beat it around in the woods a bit and then drove 30 minutes back to Jackson so my driving experience is pretty limited but it seems like the ideal combination of off-road and highway utility. I think we'll get along just fine.
It was fun to reconnect with lots of old friends along the way and to make some new connections as well. Special thanks to Onur, whose willingness to share his knowledge of all things 70 series can't be overstated.
We're headed to Oxford for the weekend and then the 8 hour trek home on Monday. I'll keep y'all posted....
Come join us at this year’s 70 Series Meet & Greet.View attachment 2759210
Beat it on down the line to Oxford. 2-1/2 hours to get to know the truck. It’s already a faithful friend, chugging along through the heat and pouring rain. Very easy going, keeps up at 70 mph with no worries. Oxford and Ole Miss move-in day traffic on Jackson was a chore of 500 gear changes but I was still smiling. 90+ degrees is literally no sweat with Joeri’s AC kit. I think we’re going to have some fun in this truck.
I hope to also be there by mid-afternoon on Thursday. For those that arrive on Thursday, we’ll most likely gather somewhere for dinner. Thanks I may come over on Thursday. Waiting to see if the stars align.
Your IP is still in the stock setting so if you turn the fuel up a bit does inclines will be a lot more pleasant , in regards to the mpg have you considered the difference between the oem tire size (about 30') and the larger tire size you are running now ? Around 20 mpg seems more common for these , I hope the title made it to you by now .Ancient history by now but the truck is safely in Asheville. We left Oxford early on Monday morning, avoided ten million gear changes in Atlanta and got back to Asheville in 9 hours. That's an hour or so longer than lead foot with the 100 or K's Lexus but very respectable. It'll keep up with traffic at 70 MPH until you hit an incline and then you'd better make sure you're in the right lane 'cause things are going to slow down. Basically top speed up a gentle hill is limited by your tolerance of RPMs.
The new suspension rides pretty rough but my reference point is skewed by newer trucks. Seems comparable to the OME springs on my 40 when they were new. Got a look or two from the passenger as she hammered away on her laptop.
If this thing has something like a 20 gallon fuel tank, I got around 17 mpg. If not, I did worse. We stopped once for fuel and food on a 550 mile drive, which is what we usually do. Local in a truckstop outside Chattanooga ambled over to take a look. Said he has restored many Land Cruisers but can't afford the baseline pricing anymore. Had never seen a 70 series in person and shot video of us pulling out onto the highway. Had a few others slow to shoot a pic on I40.
It's been pretty well parked since I got home. I don't have the title yet so I'm running on a borrowed Mississippi tag with no registration and not enough insurance. I'll get it out some this weekend though.
I appreciate Nolen taking on this oddball project and am super happy with the results. I might even keep this one for a while.
