I had the install done at CampTeq which (by choice - not out of necessity) involved removing a portion of the roof as well as the sunroof glass. I still need to get the interior squared away, but it performed great during the shake down run on the White Rim:

That looks really good. Thanks for the pic. These keep making us 60 owners jealous.

Got it. That is good to know. Thank you.

To be clear, it's not a one size fits all solution. My wife wanted a trailer and we debated the merits of going that route. I wanted offroad capability which won out in the end. Heck, I had two separate Mt. Ranier's delivered to my door in KY last fall. Both were damaged in shipment at no fault of CVT (Bobby was awesome help), so I finally decided to rethink b/c of UPS. Ultimately, I can still pull a trailer, to my wife's delight, for those occasions when she decides to join.

Phil and I have different applications as well. Without speaking out of turn (hopefully), I'd like to say that we're both happy with the route we each chose. So I'm sure that others will continue to evaluate the product and decide if it makes sense for them. Judging by the amount of time and effort that went into these tops, CampTeq will have to sell 100 to get rich (total ass yank but you get the point).

If you are looking to make a purchase decision based purely on budget/logic it may be tough. My background is in finance. When an interesting acquisition raises its head we first evaluate the offer on its merits and ultimately acknowledge the point where we are wasting time poring over comps. This is a bespoke solution to a problem that 80 owners have been griping about for years. There's no true alternative. Trust me.

Toyota PZJ75 from 1990 :bounce:

Very nice indeed! More build info please.

I recently meet a Turkish couple with a similar vehicle. Im assuming built by the same German company as yours. The coach work is high end sailboat quality and well thought out.

Interesting how the design of the tops operation has changed over the years.

My roof was build by Desert-tec.de. The 78 you saw was build by Toms-fahrzeugtechnik.de. They have diferent concepts for thier roof. Ours is build very low ...
What els would you like to know from our build ?

It's a 5 cylinder diesel with 3,5 liter and 116PS - not too much for the 2.8tons of the rig. We bought it last year and at that point it was like this. At the moment I'm trying to make the bed a bit better so that our back doesn't hurt after a couple of days ..
We also have to build a 3. seat for our almost born kid :-)
2x90 liter tank, 42liter fresh water, 24volt system, 12volt still to come ....

yeah, please, more pics of that all of its nook and crannies too...don't skimp on us poor yanks please

heres mine, not much compared to some on this thread but Im getting a lot of ideas

the day I bought it

how it sat for a while

how it sits now

4.88s locked rear, home built sliders, rear bumper, bilsteins/eibach coils front, bilsteins OME rear, skid row off road skids, cobra c.b., and more.

now that I have a real idea of what I want to build it should go a little quicker. I also plan to build a base camp style trailer to handle my gear.

^^^ Looks good!

The front runner roof rack really completed to build. Really helped to add A place to put the jerrycans and the axe and tons of gear. I'm planning to replace the grill guard with a steel bumper. The grill guard came with the car, I swear...:(
