a friend just put in a shop like Rob's, permitted it and everything, close to $100k when done with no s***ter. I'd love to do it but the tarps are cheaper.

there's a s***ter, they slabbed over the drain before the inspector came out, permitting a s***ter added big money. Impact fees were about 30% of the cost but the building was obvious so he had to go that route.

do they have to engineer metal buildings for high winds in FL or is it just a no snow load spec roof? my shop would be 40-45K for building plus 40x60 12" slab.
Dade County 150mph wind load. Plus the slab has to be road level and he was in a low area.
My shop would fold and tumble at 90+ im quite sure.
My 40 x 60 "Red Iron structure building with the overhanges and 8" thick concrete inside as well as the 14' approaches on three side, 200amp service, bathroom, 4 14' over head doors adn 3 4' commercial walk in doors was a little over 1/2 of that. $58k

Thought i share the progress of building my men cave with you folks, so we may get some new pictures here.
It used to be the workplace of a blacksmith, i never thought that black holes do exist but in fact i found one when i opened that door...........
took a part of the wall down and installed a bigger door
There was a lot of old things in there......packed with tired iron since more than 100 years.

some tools are in good shape and will be used again.
washing the walls with high pressure and put some OSB at the wall does work.
Had to take the old concrete floor out, not good enough for a proper installation of a lift.
Again OLD
versus NEW
The old fireplace, there will be a Franklin fireplace in a few weeks time.
New concrete floor will come this week and other things have been done meanwhile, pictures are some weeks old. I will keep you updated if you like.

Those are both awsome, I kinda like a balance of the "eat off the floor" checkerboards, and the total mayhem...

Finally getting my garage built. 32' wide by 36' long, 9' walls, 8' by 16' door in the front, 8' by 8' in the back (so an 84" tall FJ40 will fit).

Pouring the slab, the first time.
Lab approved 2nd slab.
Standing up the pre-fabbed walls.
Trusses get delivered tomorrow, stacked on Tuesday.
