I'm working on a firing range and came across a target vehicle today. It's a left hand drive troopy with what I believe to be a 1fz and a 5spd.(didn't look at engine) but it has 4500 stickers. Im not sure how it ended up here or what market it came from. I've been placing calls trying to see if I can save it somehow. It still runs and drives and has working ac. Full floater out back and the later model front end.

shot you a PM.

It really is a shame. It looks clean and appears that it spent its previous life in the desert as well. I'll try to get some more info on it but chances of it being sold are pretty much non existent. I'm not current on my 70 series at the moment but this one has the one piece headlights with the markers, what year would that make it?

So who actually owns it?....Army?... Government ?

Could it have been these type of stickers?

If true to be a target vehicle, that is a pretty sad ending for a troopy.

I got to do a thorough inspection today. It’s a 2010 fzj78 with only 44k kilometers on the odometer.

It makes me happy to know my tax dollars contribute to such a waste.

Not as bad as $500 rolls of toilet paper I suppose.

Or is it worse!?

Cheers

There is a lot of speculation why it is here in the first place. What confuses me though is that I didn't know the 1FZ engine was being used in the (any) land cruiser in 2010 models.

got to remember the US gov. has/uses different models of 70 series all over the world. So, they can ship these back to the US. but as to selling to the public vehicles that are 24yrs old or younger I don't know. That's probably why that one ended up on a firing range? A few years ago the Gov sold at auction a few FJ-75's. I think some of them ended up with members on here.
