Subject line sums this up pretty good. I just bought my 2nd 80. My previous one had a Rigid 20" Eseries combo bar installed in the ARB bumper. LOVED IT! Tons of light, but that was a few years ago and I know a lot more options are available. My biggest dilemma on top of what to purchase this time around is size and placement. I currently have two IPF lights on my ARB. Decent but a lot of draw and not crazy bright. Should I replace those with another 20"bar in its place or... Since I am fortunate enough to have bought a cruiser with a front runner roof rack, install a big old monster up top. I remember a mud member with a white 80 that had a 50" on his rack and it looked amazing. Also freeing up space in the bumper surely allows better airflow. Any thoughts??

The drawback of mounting a powerful LED lightbar on the roof rack is that it's very close to your eyes: in snowy/foggy/dusty weather you'd be mostly blinding yourself.

So whether it's good or not depends on your weather: If you have clear dry air then it should be OK, otherwise think it through and experiment with it before mounting it permanently.

I put two of the Rigid Dually D2's on my Binks bumper and love the pattern and the ability to fine tune the coverage. They're smaller than your IPF's, draw less power and put out a bunch more light.

Those look awesome! I found on rigids website that they are now offering an Eseries bar in a 28" version. If my measurements are right I should just be able to finagle that into my arb. I'm leaning towards a bar in the grill and then maybe some duallys around the rack. I'm feeling the need to do something overkill. This should be fun

You should see BJ Baldwins street truck/pre-runner. I think it has at least two of every product Rigid makes. Tried to find a pic, but was unsuccessful.

I've got a 10" bar that was on my buggy that I may put above the winch, and some single LED lights that I'll use as rock lights, backup lights, and maybe interior working lights (rear hatch).

Not sure what IPF lights you have but I did a 55W HID conversion of my IPF 900 and they throw a longer beam then the 42 inch LED light bar that I'm running on the roof... but the best light mod to date are the Depo HID projector's running 50w Ballast and bulbs.
If you have question's about light bar's you should talk to Nick Expedition Lighting Systems
He can answer all your questions regarding LED light bars

First shot are the 55w IPF's ..at the far end of the shot is a fence thats on the other side of a 4 lane road...

second shot are the new 50W Low Beam...third shows just how bright the IPF 50w and the 42" Light Bar are

Depending on what you need the lights to do, if it is long range you will need SPOTs with HID, if you need close light all around go with the 20" LED Light Bar!

I have both and it works perfect for my needs!

Those all look amazing! Esp 2k I like what you did there. Here's the thing I live in Kansas so I have to drive long deserted county roads to get to most of our wheeling areas. So distance is important but once I'm at the places we wheel they are tight narrow winding trails around the rivers and what few hills we have. I want to achieve both. My thought was the 28 bar for country roads then small floods surrounding the rack for narrow trails.

Luke do you have any more pics of your upper bar install? And what connector did you use for the passage in the roof for wiring?

Not really connector but waterproofing grommet

I have the MIC Tuning 13.5" light bar. I finally got tonite it out in the dark wood and its like daylight!
110$ shipped of eBay

That's a deal! I wish we had a thread comparing light bars to one another. So many are out now and very little comparison info available. That's probably a Pandora's box of trouble but with prices varying so widely now I'd like to know how rigid, visionx etc stack up to the bars that cost a fourth of the cash

Rigid is holding up well. I bought some pods from a MUD member 2000uzfj or something like that. They look well built, some buddies are running them. He is in the vendor section under expedition lighting.

You wanna sell me my old light bar back;)? I swear the FSM and that light bar are the biggest regrets I have about letting my rig to you! I'm glad the ol girl is still running good for ya though. Man I loved that thing!

Did you get rid of the FSM to someone else? I don't have it and wish I had the paper copy. There is a thread on her that you can get it electronic and then download to phone or tablet.

s*** I must still have it then!! It must be packed away somewhere! You just made my day man!

Vision X Evo 8" Lights on a custom light bar I built for a customers Tacoma. This arrangement worked really well for light distribution up close. Also mounted a 24" Evo on the front for longer range light.
