Looking for opinions on how to address my leaking, presumably-original (236kmi) PS pump. It's leaking out the back. I already pushed this off for a year, by adding Prestone stop leak, but it's begun leaking again. My steering seems to work fine, although I have noticed that it seems to be getting tighter (though I assume this is not related to the pump).

Should I reseal or replace? Are there any aftermarket upgrades (I didn't see any)?

If it is just leaking from the rear you could just replace that seal while it in the truck. A new pump is pretty pricey and most just reseal and carry on.

Here is a rebuild link

What would this process be? How do you get the rear cover off while still in the truck? Thanks.

I guess it's doable, in theory, but I wouldn't want to. My skinny little arms are too big to fit in there.

I did a reseal job one time when I was new to 80’s. In my opinion it’s a PITA job to do on a an old pump. If you plan to keep your 80 I’d suggest buying a new pump and be done with it.

So, FWIW we replaced our power steering pump at the outset of what many would consider a baselining of the vehicle. We used the mechanic who has been looking over the truck for the last 5 years. In hindsight, I think it put a bigger hole in the budget than necessary. It and re-sealing the windshield from a leaking Safelite replacement are the only two jobs we had others do. The windshield was worthwhile.

If it's leaking out the back of the pump, determine exactly where it's leaking.
There is a round hole that has a plug with an o-ring on it that is not serviceable. It has been known to blow out this plug and immediately leak out all the fluid and lose power steering. I personally know three people this had happened to.

When Wits' End existed, he made an emergency plug for this purpose.

Personally, I would buy a new pump (Toyota) then fill that plug hole with epoxy before I installed it.

If you buy a remanufactured pump, that o-ring did not get replaced since that part is non- serviceable. However, it lived through the hot-tank and rebuild process just enough to not leak to make it to your doorstep.
