FINALLY got this leak sorted. @Kernal gave me a lot of pointers and I ended up simply ordering a new OEM O-Ring and bolt for the suction union port. I also put it on the edge of a table and hammered it super flat.

Truck doesn’t drip a drop now. There is still a whine from the pump but I prob have air in there since I had a lot of fluid getting drained and filled while I was troubleshooting.

Cheers mud!

So it’s great and all that I have no leak now, but I still get a wine and a groan, especially when the engine is cold.

It’s pretty annoying, and from what I can tell, I don’t have a bunch of bubbles in the system.

Any ideas? I am using automatic transmission fluid

Some of us have switched to Hydraulic fluid which may decrease the whine. Was discussed years ago that the original fluid was not ATF but hydraulic fluid
which may be related to the whine.

Mobil DTE 24 is one choice, or a full synthetic equivalent.

When I fixed my suction port union leak, i had ATF on hand, so I used that. I think I need to switch to Hydraulic. Tractor supply is next door to me but they only carry a HUGE container of it.

I'm going to try the hydraulic fluid. thanks for the reminder!
