***Update***

Got another update from support at Rhino Radio, have to say they have been super responsive and helpful. This one really improved Android Auto and has eliminated the lockups I was getting. Did a 5hr road trip without a single issue.

No regrets going with this unit so far.

Has anybody installed an aftermarket amplifier with on of the Teyes/Rhino/AliExpress screens and experienced speaker whine?

I have checked all the grounds, RCA cables, etc. and they are good. The noise isn’t coming from the power wire, or EMI. I believe it is coming directly from the head unit.

I noticed that happens based on the volume configured in the amplifier settings page. You have to lower that and increase the regular volume to compensate

That's alright. I think it's the pink wire that's stopping this from working now. When the unit is turned on the canbus box sends about 11.5 v on it so yes, it should be powering something up, I just can't work out what.

@1mtomselleck that's great. When I queried them they just said they don't have it yet but that sounds very promising

I did manage to finally (it's been a long time searching) track down a copy of the HDJ101K nav wiringIn particular it showed the link between the multidisplay and the AC ECU which I hadn't seen before. Most of the US versions show it going through a Gateway ECU first

The wires and plug positions matched up and I physically traced the wires between the two. I think these are the two green wires in the Chinese loom. The multiplex bus.
The other canbus seems to be just between the nav screen, the cd changer, nav dvd player, tv tuner etc na dthats the grey/ grey black wires.
So I'm thinking its just the pink wires now. I'm going to send the diagram to my Chinese friends and see what they think. They really want me to send it back and get a refund
Hey XAlent- any news on this? it would solve SO many problems for me if you found a solution :) Thank you!

I have an Android 11 unit and everything works fine (AC, passenger airbag light, sound, wireless CarPlay, etc.). Can someone tell me though how and where to reset the maintenance required light from this unit, if you’ve done it? Thanks.

Isn't that done thru the odometer?

Unfortunately not mate. I deciphered both electrical diagrams and worked out was going on and then wired it in a way I thought would work but I just couldn't get any response from the AC button part of the unit. I think the issue may be that the US cruisers have another ecu called the Gateway ECU in between the nav screen and the AC amplifier (ECU) whereas the JDM cruiser is straight from the nav screen to the AC amplifier (ECU). So I'm thinking the CAN box that comes with the unit just isn't chatting the right way to work. Would really require someone who can record them emulate the CAN signals from the original nav screen to get it working. I'm hoping the Chinese are doing this but it wouldn't hurt to message them and request it as well.

The only good thing that's come out of it is there was a mix up because of the time it took and them sain initially it would work so I've had my money refunded and still have the unit! Not bad considering it was a touch over $1k AUD. I'll keep investigating. I may be able to work something out now I've still got the unit to play with.

Removed the CD/DVD player yesterday and replaced the cubby with one from a LC, much more room in there now. Also put a USB port in the cubby next to the 12V port so I can plug in my phone to charge and connect to Android Auto. Also replaced the burnt out bulbs in the seat heater switches while I had everything out. Cheap and easy to do using "Grain of wheat" bulbs.

Well that worked out well! You've probably gotten really quick at disassembling/assembling that center area..

One of the vendors (Autojeta) is apparently working on a harness. They might all be the same vendor, no idea. I checked in on Feb 8th and at that point he said "give us another 2 weeks", so we're pretty close. I bet if you messaged them on Aliexpress it might move things along too..

I don't have a ton of faith that it will be fully plug-and-play, but hopefully if nothing else the CAN signal issues that XAlent is running into will be resolved and we can troubleshoot our way through this.

I just asked Autojeta about their progress and was told they're making it and to ask again in a month. I think it's going to be a looong month

Hey. I went ahead and pinged them again.. Here's the news (translated):

"The factory has debugged the software, but we have no customers to help us test it for the time being. If you buy our machine, we are 80% sure. If some functions do not work, we can upgrade and measure the voltage, etc. finally we can help you to fix the installation. if you know eletronics and know how to use tools to measure voltage, then you can order it now. You will be the 1st person."

While I would normally be willing to give this a try, I will have a baby to take care of sometime in the next week so now isn't a great time lol.

These guys have cojones... They should be sending the unit for free.

I can help them to fix their software. I will install and measure anything they want if they send me the hardware and software for free.

You're right. They're essentially asking for a beta tester.. Getting a free unit is a good trade for putting in the (probably) hours of work to troubleshoot.

@rrc swb @medtro

I let the guy know that I'm not in a position to test the head unit at this time, but that someone else might reach out. Would either of you gents like to request a free radio unit from "Autojeta" on AliExpress? That looks like the sketchiest thing I've typed in a while but I do think they might be willing to work with you..

To be clear, this is for the JDM specific pre-2003 navigation system

I tried and they wanted me to pay for it. I wish them good luck with their testing.
