Hi, did anyone manage to get an update on the pre 2003 JDM specific nav screen? I've got a JDM HDJ101K and I've been trying to get an android head unit without trying to go down the nav delete route.

This is what my factory nav looks like. The connectors on the back seem different to some other pre 03 nav units

I've been lurking on this thread for ages and it seems there are good and bad combo's depending on the vendor and the model/year of the LC/LX. Is there anyone that has a 2005 LX with a functional tesla style screen that can share their vendor of choice?

I have this exact model and year. 2005 LX. I went with Phoenix. I also went with Sergei's software. it has been trouble free since I installed it in 2021.

Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a while now and would like to get your opinions on some choices before Black Friday. Per my name I have an 07 LX 470. Please shout out any specific products good or bad, leaning maybe using aliexpress for a cheap generic but point me in whatever direction you want.
  1. Tesla style screen - any options on AliExpress worth it? If not, Phoenix or Rhino
  2. Teyes CC3 (aliexpress?)
  3. Grom vline seems to be a waste of $$/bad audio quality(?)
  4. Some other head unit + somehow wire hvac into an older panel with physical HVAC controls? Can’t really find a full writeup on this one, please link me if it exists. This is my favorite but seems unlikely
  5. Stand-alone CarPlay unit and link with Bluetooth to my current Bluetooth adapter

Eventually I would like to replace all speakers with nicer ones too but also having trouble figuring that out. I’ve never had to do work like this before! Please help!!

For #4, The FAQ has links and posts are written by @jerryb with documentation.

Did your model have a nav in the display or was it non-nav? Did u use any of Jerry B harness? I’m a bit familiar with his process although I haven’t done it myself yet.

I have LC 05. Tried to install
Phoenix
Easy to install, plug and… pray ;). Everything is working (controls, backup camera(not easy, but doable)), BUT: I was not able to get rid of the unbearable background white noise, engine running or not. After a number of consultations with their support I was recommended to either replace factory amplifier or return the unit. Returned the radio. The good news - they have a tech support, they respond to you and their return policy is working.

Funny enough my factory radio and amp already has that problem with the white noise so they might be on to something. It’s a good guess to why that is happening and nothing to do with their radio.

I’m not an expert on the car audio, so just from my personal experience.
- LC uses “single point” ground, it is under the passenger sit. Make sure it is not corroded or oxidized.
- if you hear the distorted sound, one of the possibilities is dried out electrolytic capacitors on the amplifier pcb. We blindly replaced all of them with a new ones.
This experience is from my friend’s LC 100.

After uninstalling phoenix radio, everything went back to normal on mine LC.

I have an LX so I’m sure it will be similar. Thank you for these tips! I’m really bad with wiring though and can’t understand anything :(

I can 100% tell you do not buy the Grom Vline. Buggy, inconsistent garbage. They strung me along with claims of being able to fix all the issues for long enough to get past the refund period, and now won't respond to my emails.

I'm leaning towards the Teyes CC3 as my next replacement.

I ordered the Phoenix. Hoping with the software here I’ll be in the clear. 05 LX with ML

Phoenix offers 2 models. Which one you decided to go with?
Please keep us posted, I’ll probably take another shot if you, hopefully, have good result.

Update, after about 3 weeks and plenty of pestering, they figured out that the px6 wasn't in stock. They're sending me the newer version. Just got tracking for it. Keep you posted.

I went with the Phoenix in my ‘06, upgraded the amp to get rid of the whine and have been happy. It’s an adventure to get there though 😆
I have an 06 also. I tried the Teyes but couldn't get around the whine. What amp did you change to? Was it a straight forward swap? Also, do you still have stock speakers?

I'm warry of diving back into this problem. It's not my cup of tea. But, my stock unit is showing it's age.

Thanks!

My topence: I did not go with the idea of replacing stock amplifier. The main reason was I do not want to cut/re-splice the oem connectors. I’ve looked up for a dead amplifier to get the oem connector out of it, but it is impossible to find. With nowadays quality I want to keep my options open and be able to go back to oem config.

I went with a Kenwood X802-5 5-channel 1600 watt, it fit in the spot the amp/nav was removed from. Pretty straightforward, run fused power and find speaker wires from harness. I did stock at first, then upgraded to infinity reference 6530cx’s.
