I've created several of these ATC gearbags for the rear storage cubby in the new 250 for some LC friends. They are made right here in Colorado of USA textiles and hardware. The best thing about them is it'll stop the rattle of tools and small parts that are kept in the rear storage cubby. LMK if your interested and I'll throw them up in the website! The rear cubby will hold two of them side by side.

Cheers.
I’d definitely be interested.

Great looking LC! How are those Nittos? Specifically wondering about road noise vs the stock tires?

Thanks!

Can't really comment on them vs the Michelins, as they were port installed. That being said, ride is much quieter and more compliant than my '01 with K02s.

The odd Australian 3rd row situation:

Because of the 48V battery, the third row cannot fold flat into the floor. To address this, Toyota includes a storage box to create a flat floor when the third row is folded down.

The storage box is removable.

The issue is that the 3rd row is not easily removable like it was in the 200-series. I'm making the comparison with the 200-series because the 3rd row seats in the Australian don't fold flat yet are annoying to remove like 3rd that fold flat.

Only took 6,700 miles before I took a direct hit making my way into Texas. Hopefully it doesn’t grow too much before I get it back to AZ, and I can get it filled. I’ll be bummed if it cracks a bunch and I have to source new glass and replace the couple week old ceramic film.

I’ve put clear packaging tape over stars to keep moisture and contaminants out. It held about a week for me until I did the rainx repair kit from Walmart. The rainx diy kits work well if you have some time to get to it.

Do you mean you already had ceramic film added to the glass? I just discovered that was a thing the other day and was wondering how effective it would be at reducing stuff like this? Similar to a screen protector on your phone I imagine?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The film is just clear tint on the inside to block some heat and UV. Not a protective outer layer.

I stopped at Walmart and used a JB Weld kit in the buc-ees parking lot. Hopefully it keeps it from spreading. Back on the road now, 980 miles to go.

Ironman's SEMA wrap has less Ironman 4x4 logos than their actual products.

So true. The worst part of Ironman products is their branding. If they changed the stupid logo and picked a color not from 1992 they would be more popular. Its crazy that they dont see that. There have been several Ironman products that I simply havent purchased just because I hate the logo so much. End rant lol

High desert exploring. Bombs down the oil field roads well. I’m still partial to the ride of my FJ Cruiser 6MT for now on fast, rougher county roads. But it’s close. The 250 feels a touch more unsettled at higher speed bigger hits and repetitive shallower potholes particularly on a curve. I think it’s partially me getting used to the feel of the longer wheelbase compared to the FJ.

The 250 handles head toss much better than the FJ at slower speeds and that’s with no swaybar disconnect (1958). And overall the ride in the 250 is great and better than the FJ in most all the other driving use cases for me. One possibly concerning note was that the B pillar and driver front door seemed to “not be in sync” on some rougher sections. Hard to describe but “not tank-like” or not “like a vault” might be the best way to describe it around here. But with car seats in the back and it being very subtle it was hard to tell if I was imagining a noise coming from there.

Really wish the Toyota gods would put the swaybar disconnect on every 250 or at least make it an option, AND leave it easily hackable to keep it off at speeds >18mph. 🤞
