That exposed receiver is really unattractive. I’m happy it’s not under the bumper like the Tacoma but they could have just made it look nice and skipped the cover. I also wish they would have moved the trailer connections up and receiver adjacent.
It probably provides 2.5 to 3" more clearance than the current non-integrated 6,500# hitch that tacks on below the rear frame rails.

Agree. Wish it looked a bit more like the 200’s.

Agreed. Reminds me of the hitch cover on the 200 which I also am not a fan of. Personally prefer the hitch integration on the 4Runner. Looks clean and no cover to deal with.

Anyone know timelines of when the GX550 reviews will be released? I seem to recall it being discussed somewhere in one of the threads, but I can’t find it.

If anyone is local to the area, A GX550 is on static display at the Daytona Autograph hotel for the Rolex 24 race. Snapped a pic yesterday, will upload it soon.

I've heard the YouTube shills saying first drive is the end of the month. I'm sure all the fawning reviews will fill your YouTube recommended lists shortly thereafter. I'd expect them all to say it's the best thing since sliced bread. (don't want to not get invited to the next paid for trip after all)

Typically there will be an embargo on the reporting until some time after the first drive event. Then the videos will all come out around the same time.

I'm excited for my mechanic, The Car Care Nut, to give his opinion on a 250 in the flesh. He's very honest in his reviews, even with Toyota and Lexus. There's a few Toyota/Lexus products he isn't a fan of. He's already given his opinion to me when I asked him about the 250. Let's just say he's on team Bring The 70 To Our Shores. He won't work on diesels either in case you were wondering.

As we've discussed previously: 1) that can't, and won't happen. 2) In my opinion, most people who claim to want a 70 Series would change their mind if they actually drove one.

CCN has a great channel and very interesting reviews. I watch many of his videos. I especially liked his video on the 3rd gen Prius/CT200h head gasket issues (nixed that vehicle from something I'd ever consider) and the 100 series head gasket seep (which led me to check my coolant pH - it's a neutral 7).

On the flipside, I find him very conservative for some items. For example he's rather opposed to most aftermarket fluids (despite many of us having great luck with them) and just about all aftermarket parts. Let's just say that if I didn't work on my own rig, I'd take him my 2UZ-FE for a head gasket replacement, but would pick a different shop for a lift kit or set of headers.

The proof will be in the pudding for the 250 and no one will really know how good they are/aren't for several years. In the meantime I'm still planning to do a few more mods to my 470 (with CCN's all-time favorite motor) and drive it for the foreseeable future.

I’ve never agreed with you more in my life. The people that pine after a 70 usually haven’t spent a lot of time with them.

6166 is missing. Meaning they are planning something between 1958 and LC grade. Hopefully 1958 model but got all the off road goodies. 🙏🙏😄😄
