Largest *deflated* tire in spare location?

I was hoping the KDSS spacers would allow me to slide my 285/70/17 up into the spare location but after reading the thread it does not seem that way...
Looking so… it might be possible without a receiver installed though.

Lol, I wish EVERYBODY replying their spare fitment results to this thread would specify whether a hitch was involved (and which type, factory or Curt/Drawtite), and whether KDSS spacers were in play, in addition to the tire size.

I installed my rear KDSS spacers today and was subsequently able to fit my 275/70-17 spare tire in the stock location, fully inflated. I removed my tow hitch previously, so I can't say whether it will still fit with the hitch installed.

That's great. Do you think a 33 can fit in there or was there no room left?

The tire is right up against the metal bracing at the back, so no more room back there. There is < 1" of space in the front, between the tire and the rear sway bar. I didn't measure, but it's getting tight up at the front. I wouldn't count on putting an inflated 33 in there, but you might be able to squeeze a deflated one in.

A 285/70/17 would be about a half inch bigger, so if it did fit, it’d be crammed in there for sure.

I was hoping a 285/70/17 would fit with the spacers on there. My tire is brand new and I don't have a hitch. I would rather pull with my Tundra but I may add a hitch later with a bumper is this tire don't fit underneath.

Has anyone tried a 255/70-18 with a stock hitch? This would be an all season tire acting as a “donut” spare for 275/55-20 wheels.

All I can say is that it doesn’t fit with the class 3 receiver… might fit (crammed at best) if i removed it, but that’s not an option for me so I didn’t try

Has anyone tried putting a 275/70/17 tire with spacers and a class 3 receiver? I don't tow but would still like to have a hitch for accessories like bike racks, .etc.

I have rear spacers, 275/70/17 Wildpeaks and had to remove the class 3 receiver I had on there to squeeze the tire in fully inflated.

Sounds like that’s about as big as you can go with the spacers and no receiver and having to cram it then… 275/70/17 is 32.16” and 285/70/17 is 32.71”

Thanks, this is good to know. Too bad there's no room for the receiver but I guess I would rather sacrifice the receiver in order to utilize the OEM spare tire space rather than buying a hitch tire carrier.
