I have a 2016 GX460 that I bought used with no trailer hitch. I think it had a Curt Class III, but it was removed.

I installed a Curt Class III and a Hopkins plug-in vehicle wiring harness. Everything works perfectly, except I cannot figure out how to mount the wiring harness plug. There’s just not a good spot.

Right now, I have it zip-tied:

Not a viable long-term solution, plus it looks janky. Help, please.

I have the factory hitch and plug and the plug isn't much better on it either. Don't mind the hitch being the low point it is a beast but the plug does worry me sometimes.

Keep telling myself that one of these days I'll get the Victory relocation kit. It is $99 for a small bracket but the piece of mind should be worth it. I use the hitch especially in the summer and fall so not sure how much a PITA getting under there to plug in is.

Then again I just spent almost that much for the Diode Dynamic back up Super Duper brighter than the sun LED's so imagine that it will not be long before I get the Victory bracket.

It actually looks fine to me. Zip ties are more than adequate for the plug.

Now that I’m pulling the heavy trailer off road, I’ve been thinking about relocating mine into the bumper. Not sure I’ll have the clearance between the bumper cover and the actual bumper, but I think that would be ideal. Of course, Im to the point where I don’t have any reservations about taking the drill in couple holes in my bumper. Guys with new trucks or pavement princesses might be more hesitant.

@HVLA is probably right though. Would probably be fine for years with a couple uv resistant zip ties. They do fail eventually. I zip tied a brake proportioning valve to my frame rail on a tacoma when I was young. About 5 years later I lost my brakes on the freeway. Zips failed and the weight of the valve flopping around broke a hard line. Fun day. This application isn’t as critical and a whole lot more visible for inspection.

Looks like you’d have to have a tire carrier to make that work. Its in the spare T well. Cost is a little steep for what it is.
Like I said it is almost a hundred for a small bracket. But Lexus wants $300 for the same thing with a flat bracket (plus pigtail). No tire carrier needed it bolts in using factory location on the frame. Likely charge extra for the bracket because of the overlander thing LOL.

With that said C4 Fab makes one almost identical for their Overlander rear bumper kit. 4Runner guys say they can order it separately for ~$20.

GX Bob has a video where he mounts the outlet to the rear of the bumper with a Nilight kit for around $20 also. But the plug housing screws in to the bumper trim, if you hit it off road something is going to rip and that would be the bumper trim. Fine if you never go off road like him or most GX owners but I wouldn't do it.

In the end I decided that the fat OEM 6500 lb. bumper and plug location was worth it. If I want a couple of extra inches clearance I just hit the switch to add 2" extra height in the rear wait a minute and drive. Has worked well for me so far.

I have one. I do love how much it cleans up the rear class IV hitch, and really enables you to use it as a rudimentary skid. I don't tow as much as you though, and mine is lifted so it's a bit easier to access. It would probably work fine for the class 3 curt. I don't know how much it'd interfere with a stock sized or slightly upsized tire in it's traditional spot.
