I watched your video yesterday. I could have predicted your experiences, although I haven't towed a camper that big. The GX is an adequate tow vehicle, but not an enthusiastic one. It's only a 281 cid engine, after all.

I didn't unbolt the rear sway bar to install my lift, but I guess you could. It's easy to install the spacers either way. I have installed 35s and 3" lift and never had KDSS lean. I think the front Dr KDSS relocation brackets basically allow...

BigSwede replied to the thread Premium fuel ?.
I think you are right. BTW around here, 91 is 60 cents more than 87, and 93 is about 80 cents more. If it was only 10% like you have, I would probably be happy with premium too and not worry about it. When I really start to feel it is when I...

BigSwede replied to the thread Premium fuel ?.
This vehicle has been in production for 13 years, and I have yet to hear of one damaged by running lower octane. That said, I have run both and while it does fine on 87, it does seem a little happier (sound and performance) on 91. Conformation...

BigSwede replied to the thread Magnaflo Overland.
The stock system is almost silent except maybe at WOT. But I agree the Magnaflow Overland has nice V8 sound on acceleration, pretty quiet at cruise.

I have the Magnaflow Overland cat back. I just l ike the way it sounds, plus the high-tuck tailpipe. Hard to say if there is any horsepower gain. The sound is of course louder than stock (most anything would be), but on the mellow side. Put it...

If there were any bugs, after 13 years of production I would think they have them worked out.

BigSwede replied to the thread Odd tapping/wind noise sound.
Windshield noises can be tricky - that curved shape funnels sound in unexpected ways. I have been convinced a sound is coming from one side or another and been proven completely wrong in the end. And what seat you are sitting in can completely...

I did that with the factory plug when I mounted the Coastal rear bumper. Having it hang underneath would have defeated the purpose of the bumper, really.

Got my Dobinson MRAs installed yesterday. I would definitely have a buddy or 2 around to help with things like UCA bolts, getting the front shocks in/out without messing up the spindle, etc. For the fronts, I unbolted the sway bar from the KDSS...

Not saying it can't be done, but when Discount Tire tried to use aftermarket TPMS sensors on my GX they didn't have any luck getting them recognized, so had to go OEM.

The clamps can be done either way. The sway bar end relocate brackets can be done either way, using a floor jack on the ground (Dr. KDSS has videos for install) or I saw a different video where the guy had it on jackstands and used a ratchet...

On this slow winter day I decided to tally up the mods list for the GX - it's quite a list! It mushroomed a bunch when I decided to go "all in" after the Moab trip. And no, I'm not going to add up how much this all cost, thankyouverymuch. Let's...

I have the Rhino ramps too, they are handy for skid plate work and for Fluid Film application (put both ramps on the same side). But there are times when you need to do a wheel-off job and ramps won't work, so jack stands are needed, so I have...

You shouldn't have to undo the rear brake lines, you are just swapping shocks and coils, right? The Ironman install video is pretty good. You'll just need metric sockets and tools; a pry bar can be helpful at times.

I would do a simple drain and fill. That will change out 3-4 quarts and gently introduce new fluid, avoiding a shock to the system. Repeat later as necessary.

Don't know, but if you email Beat Sonic they were pretty responsive in answering my similar questions.

Should check any idler pulleys (I would probably just replace them while you're at it).

That’s funny. I hit this today in the RAM 2500.

BigSwede replied to the thread 460 on 35's.
I did the same thing a month or two ago. My wheels have the same specs as yours. I have done a body mount chop (not relocate), hammer the pinch weld down, adjust the cam bolts on the LCAs to shift the wheel forward as far as it will go, and I...

BigSwede replied to the thread GX460 improve highway handling?.
I have been driving SUVs since the late 1980s, and IMO the GX has far less body roll on the highway than other similar SUVs, due to the stiff KDSS anti-roll (sway) bars. I have heard people say that the GX460 handles like a sports car compared to...

The on-road handling is actually quite good for a ~5,300lb brick. Is it a Porsche? No. But even being body-on-frame it handles better than a lot unibody SUVs I’ve driven.

Also, I'm really surprised that you note your old LX470 handled better than the GX. Do you use "sport" mode in the GX? My wife and I both had our own 100 series Landcruisers, which is basically the same as the LX470's, and the GX handles far...

BTW, I have noticed that some of the nav apps on carplay will display your speed (Waze is one). Makes the failure of the Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator less of a sting. Supposedly google maps can do this too, but it doesn't seem to work where I...
