Largest *deflated* tire in spare location?

I have a 2014 with OEM U-shaped hitch, I fit a 265/65/18 Continental A/T (listed at 31.5") in the spare well.
I deflated to 6 ish psi, put the rear of tire above hitch first, then raised it. It was a few mm too big so, I had to grease the sway bar to get it past, but once over the hump of the outside tread, I was all clear.

(I did not try it at full psi with grease......I thought of the grease after I tried it deflated and just left it be)

Of course when I have to actually use the spare, I will be cursing myself because I'll have to crawl under the car and wedge it out.

I may try to just have the tire shaved..... or maybe not and hate myself later.

I have 265/70/17 Wildpeaks and the full OEM hitch. Even with the tire deflated I was having to really wrestle with it. I took a grinder to two corners on the hitch that made contact with the tires. I keep the tire inflated and it now just takes a small wiggle to get it to drop.

Kdss spacers let you easily fit a 265/70/17… a 285/70/17 might even fit, but you might be back to wrestling again

That's an interesting idea...

I'll be installing KDSS spacers soon and am hoping it gives me some extra room for my spare. I wedged an inflated 265/65/18 up there (31.5") and would be happy if I could fit a 32" (275/65/18).

You’ll have plenty of room… I plan on testing my spare 33 off my Tacoma up in there at some point

Any feedback on the spacer installation? Looks pretty straight forward.
Spacers are on back order, hope to get them early next year

Pretty easy… Loosen the kdss shutter valves two turns, lower the spare tire, lightly support the sway bar with a jack, remove the four bolts holding the sway to the two mounts, lower the jack to drop the sway bar enough to make room for the spacers, install the spacers and jack the sway bar back up, bolt everything back up using the new longer bolts, remove the jack, put the spare tire back in place, rock the vehicle a few times on each side, close the kdss shutter valves.

Will the KDSS spacers allow the 285/70/17 to slide into the spare location?

The class 3 takes up no extra room, I think the class 4 does, but I don’t know where as I don’t own one… no way I’m towing 5000+ lbs with a GX.

With the spacers?
It is about 1" to big from fitting behind what would be the back of hitch mounting point and the tire resting against the rear sway bar. I tried for a about 20 minutes trying to look at different angles. Now it sleeps in the back of the GX flat or standing up like the old Bronco/blazer of the 70's.

Sorry, just to confirm. Is this with the kdss spacers? It was not clear with your response

Sorry, No I did not have the spacers in there. I would love it if it would fit up in there. At least until I get the extended range tank then the whole back build will be on the way. Has anyone tried the 33's with the KDSS spacers yet?
