Gee it's fun to follow Junk's thread posts. First the "sealer" comment and now "that's all that matters". :flipoff2:
I get a real kick out of it and he's right.

Good fun. :D

Want to look good, too, don't you? Of course these are all after functions.

It's just part of having fun... :bounce:

o.k. here's my two cents, first I could not find what year his rig is, which would make a pretty big difference on performance, if it's a 91 or 92 your going to notice a bigger change in accel. and braking, atleast from my experiance. On a 93 or newer with 285's you should not notice much, and as for increased wear on your rig, most likely nothing, the cruisers are so over built. As for gas milage your milage in theory should actualy increase on the freeway, bigger tires, lower rpms at freeway speeds = less gas consumtion. as for looks, the cruiser is a big rig, 285's look better than stock, but the overall truck size will dwarf even 35's in my opinion. Did your post say you live in Tacoma, if so that's were I live, over near the Narrows Bridge! Hope this helps, let me know if ya need any help

Cool FJZ. Mine's a 94 I'll prob'ly lift it just an inch. Maybe it will elliminate the dwarfness you mentioned. Thanks for the input.

Follow up on a few things. Did the GPS on the way home Friday. Speedo 70, GPS 68, so I'm fairly close. Going to 285's would make speedo read 66 with actual 68, so still within acceptable limits.

How easy is the speedo recalibration gizmo to install.

Got a laugh from my son this weekend talking about just replacing stock tires with same vs. larger tires. Care to guess his input.......yep larger tires Dad!

Brent,
Details are on Christo's site. I'd say 1 banana or less. I had a little trouble figuring out the electrical connector but it seems like I always do. Those things hate me.

Speedo correction gear is about as difficult as changing wiper blades. On a mechanic scale of 1 to 10 I'm a "3" and it took me all of 15 minutes.

I was reading the tire FAQ and since it was written prior to the server change, it appears that all the photos are gone and the link to the other thread does not work. Was trying to decide between 285's and 305's and I think I'll go with the 285's because they are not as wide. Thinking the wider tire would be worse for the on highway performance, since this is also my DD.

Just curious, with a 285 and stock suspension how much clearance do you have for the trail. I guess I could go out and measure and then add the tire difference, unless someone knows off the top of thier head.

Romer, depends on the tires (each brand is slightly different). For the most part with 285's, and stock suspension, unless you're banging around in the rocks doing some good articulation, you'll likely have no issues. In the long run, you would want a lift though, but not needed asap.

If I correctly recall, for Junk that makes it a    job. :flipoff2:

Riley, since I'm scheduled to send you your package tomorrow, you may want to be a tad nicer :flipoff2: Heehee, just kiddin. Actually it would be 5 big banana days.

Junk, that thought crossed my mind, but I thought WTF, live on the edge. ;)

Get 305's ya weenie...:flipoff2: The impact on performance is difficult to measure it's so small. Of course science nerd types will be able to define the difference..

Dagnabit....305's LOOK SO MUCH BETTER.....:D

I am still searching for a 325/70/16, That would be MY TIRE........:D

Cbizkit, don't fuget, uze liv in da dezert and Romer live in da kold. :flipoff2:

Slush on roads + wider tires = more pita!, and no, that ain't pita pie. :flipoff2:

Junkster,

Yers truly lived in Northern Utah for 32 years before he escaped..:flipoff2:

The VERY BEST tires I had were a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Belted's in 12.00-15. they were WAY FAT and I kicked ass with them on my '84 XtraCab 4WD pickup. We used to go Elk hunting in October in the Wasatch mountains and my truck was the only vehicle around that was not chained up.....FACT.

Uh, trust me, the authorities are just waiting for you to return :flipoff2:

like wicked fat dude
:flipoff2: lol dude, kicking ass ain't something I ever picture you doing :flipoff2:

Fact? Nope. Fiction :flipoff2: Now leave me alone so I can go sleep :flipoff2:

Romer -

As Dan said - get the 305's. The pictures you mentioned were of my rig. I looked last night on my computer for them but they must be long gone. PM me if you'd like and I'll take a pic. You could also look at the post regarding C-Dan's rear hatch modification for some pics of his 305's.

Or you could just get the skinnies to help with the "slushy spots" Junk is afraid of. :flipoff2:

34x12.50x16 LTBs, you will sound and feel like you are flying in a helicopter.

Are those pics of 305's on a stock suspension? If so I'd like to see what they look like. Might as well post it here because others would probably like to see it.

Thanks

Dan,
Don't take away his discount, just kick in the 30% "list price escalator" like all the other Toyota dealers that claim to give discounts.
