Hey everybody,

I been a LONGTIME lurker, but post very little here, but last weekend I finally got my very own, very first FZJ80:cool:.
There are some issues with it of course, one of which is the PO said the radiator let go, they had it changed with some non OEM radiator and then parked it cause they couldn't afford to drive it.
Well I ended up getting a deal on it and pulled the radiator the PO put in and checked it. the bottom plastic tank is leaking quite badly. SO I started doing some research and come up with 2 choices. Koyo or OEM. I hate plastic so koyo it is. I started looking around for that and read a thread on here about some peolpe getting counterfeit radiators from GOparts.com . I found them as a good deal on Racetechperformance.com .. so my question is where is good place to find a decent deal on the koyo radiator.

Thanks in advance

Phil

The Koyo is a plastic tank radiator as well. I ordered one from Go-Parts in June and what I received appeared to be a high quality Koyo c1917 rad. It has been trouble free since installation. I am happy with it so far. If you don't want a radiator with plastic tanks look somewhere other than OEM or OEM replacement.

On eBay I found this: "New Koyo Brand Radiator For: TOYOTA LANDCRUISER" for $219 ("buy it now" price). Anybody bought from "Radiators US" before ?

Thanks for the info fellas,

I did some calling around, actually called koyo, they referred me to my local koyo retailer as the tech, which turned out to be a goldmine. I talked to the guy for about 20 minutes on this matter, he was real cool about everything, knew exactly what I was talking about.
He has a CSF all aluminum 3 row FZJ80 radiator in stock that he will deliver to my door for 309$ after tax and everything.
So I will do some digging before I pull the trigger on this, but i think I might go for this.

Thanks again

Phil

I looked into the csf as well, Koyo received better feedback FYI. Don't let the Plastic tanks be a deal breaker, it is likely that the original on your truck survived 15 plus years of abuse.

If you hate plastic, If i recall 1-800 radiator sells an all brass one for something like $450.

Racetechperformance no longer carries the koyo c1917, or at least that's what they told me when i ordered it.

I bought the C1917 Koyo from radiatorspot on ebay.

The Koyo is a plastic tank unit just like the original. I believe Koyo is a Toyota owned company that manufactures OEM & OE replacement radiators. I put mine in about a year ago & haven't had a problem. Fit was perfect.

Brothers '95 cracked the top plastic tank on the OEM radiator last night... (Thank goodness for JB "QuickWeld" as it held 60 miles for the trip home.)

Luckily I have a NEW OEM radiator that I can bolt in that was for another truck. Someone had a picture of a 1FZ that had a brass top tank on the radiator, might have been from down under or SA though.. The brass upper/lower tanks would be ideal IF it was thick enough and the Radiator is of equal or higher quality than OEM. A brass upper tank that is paper thin doesn't do anyone any good. Aluminum upper/lower tanks sound good with a copper/brass core, price would probably be double what the OEM 3-row copper/brass one goes for.

UPDATE :

Today on lunch I went and looked at the CSF radiator in person. It looked AWESOME, it is aluminum, but it is completely black, the Trans cooler lines are already attached rather then bung, which could just be another leak point. After talking to the guy, turn out that they infact are 1-800-Radiator.
I ended up paying 293$ and change with Lifetime warranty. it would have been 309 but I was in uniform so he knocked a couple more bucks off. I really wasn't expecting that. Awesome service, FAST and in stock. Rad looks top notch and I will install it soon..

Let me know if you guys need anything from them. I might even be able to talk to them regarding a better price for mud members, not sure.

Also if you are doing any sort of project, and need a radiator, talk to them, cause they are all about helping out. I was telling them about my BMW-LS1 project and how I gotta find a radiator and they are looking around for me now, seeing as how they can actually take radiators out and measure them.

Really impressed with them

Phil

I did. It leaked.

It actually came from radiatorspot.com, a replacement is on the way. It has a "limited lifetime" warranty, whatever that means.

FWIW, I replaced my factory radiator last month with a Koyo c1917. I had almost pulled the trigger on GoParts.com, but I decided to call Koyo first. I called their east-coast number first, and got a list of authorized resellers (goparts was not one of them). Calling those resellers, I got numbers all around $350 for the Koyo (usually along with a pitch to sell me a "good as OEM" off-brand for less than $150).

Then I got to wondering how GoParts was consistently $100 cheaper (plus there were some bad reviews on the web). So I decided to call the California number for Koyo, and see if they knew anything about GoParts (which is also based in California). The call went like this:

Me: I was wondering if GoParts.com is an authorized reseller?
Koyo: (without hesitation) No. Definitely not.
Me: Sounds like there's more to that...
Koyo: We get calls from their customers complaining from time to time.
Me: So, are they selling counterfeit radiators?
Koyo: I'm not saying that. I don't know where they get their radiators, but it's not from us.

In the end, I used Lake Shore Radiator out if Greensboro, SC to order it for me. It was $360 plus tax and shipping. The box still had the FedEx label from where it shipped form the Koyo New Jersey warehouse. I paid more than GoParts, but still saved a couple hundred over OEM.

Is the CSF Radiator a 2 row or 3 row?

Snoxxy, do you have a part code for that rad?

I took some quick pics with my Cell, the RAD is still in my truck, so I ran out real quick and took some pics.

Anyway, the partnumber on the box, which is probably what CSF goes by is 2517, but my invoice says 1917CS

Also I took a GOOD look into the radiator, it appears to be 3 row, I tried to take a pic of the inside as good as a droid would let me, but you know how that goes. But then I decided to look at the CSF website and look, here it is CSF Inc. - Illustration And Specifications. That states 3 rows as well.

I will take some more pics later today with my SLR camera.

So please let me know if you guys need more information.
