Knuckle Rebuild Kit: This 1 or that 1?

Def going to do the right to left birf swap while I'm in it, I just want to cover everything while it's gutted rather than wishing I had later down the road.
I want to swap mine too. Is there any extra parts, that aren't in CO's knuckle kit, that need to be replaced when swapping sides?

Not that I'm aware of other than a piece of PVC to make the birf/axle separation easy and you have to make sure that the bearings in the birf stay in the sockets they came from.

OK, somebody clear this up for me. Does the Cruiser Outfitters kit contain one side or two?

I kid, I kid :D

Perhaps this link might help answer any questions:

Otherwise, your always welcome to call us and discuss. Myself and Bryce handle 100% of incoming orders and we are both well versed on the rebuild process.

Will need the clips that go on the end of the inner axle that hold the birf on, most of the time are damaged/ruined when removed.

now all I'm trying to figure out is how much to toss in an extra axle seal in case I muck one up and add wheel bearings, seems like if you're going to have it all torn down anyway you might as well do wheel bearings too, no?

I almost never change wheel bearings, if even casually maintained, they last a very longtime, maybe lifetime. Always put them back in the same place they came off of, races and bearings "break in" together and should always be kept as pairs. Broken in bearings hold adjustment better, are already proven, have seen more new bearing issues than used.

x2 on reusing wheel bearings and all reasons given to reuse them. UNLESS they're damaged for some reason. I'm surprised all the big national chain shops haven't convinced everybody they need all new wheel bearings with brake jobs yet-just 'cause they're used...

We got the parts we needed to assemble a whole bunch more 80 kits today, everything on order has shipped and anyone that was on our back-order call list should have been contacted. New orders can ship as soon as tomorrow.

x2 on Kurt and Co.

I didn't have time to wait for the backorder, since I did mine last weekend.

FWIW I ended up using Low Range Offroad's kit:
http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/inde...service-kit-with-japanese-wheel-bearings.html

The advantage for me was that I needed the gaskets and o-rings for the manual hubs and they are already in the kit.

On the wheel bearing note, mine were great; but since it was apart I figured no better time. (A bearing/race driver from HF worked excellent.)

I also did the brake up-grade to the 93+ NAPA calipers and OEM rotors, while I was in there. New 93+ lines and OEM FJ80 pads (vs th FJ100 pads). - Very much recommended!

I'm torn. Kurt is a mud sponsor, but low range is sort of in my home town. current home town anyway. And they also sell the trailgear chromoly spindle lock nut kit my friend liked and recommended.

Is it a good idea to swap in new rotors and pads when doing the knuckle rebuild?

It really depends on the condition of both. Not being a smart ass, but if your rotors are in good shape and you have plenty of meat on the pads then I don't see a reason to change them out. To me it's false economy to swap out things that are perfectly serviceable.
