ok, who is planning on attending the camping part? do you want to head up Friday or Saturday?

once a spot is found, we hope to ham radio the gps coordinates back to town. those doing the day run can then find us on Sun and we'll do a run in the area.

discussion?

I'm in, both for the trip and wheeling. I can head up Friday, or Saturday.

That said, if Jon needs a hand around that time, I'd rather pitch in if that weekend could use it (don't know if he's planning on going on the overnight run or not), and figure out how to work around that.

i have to work Friday, so Saturday sound good? if others want to go Friday, that's fine. we can discuss here a general area to find eachother.

who is planning to attend? a show of hands please.

I was really planning to go but now I have to be in Las Cruces until late Friday, bummer...

I'm up for it Saturday.

But if there's only going to be two or three of us, I'd probably vote for staying home and lending Jon a hand on da'40. Turns out I haven't sent ALL of my gear across the globe. Still have a bivy, a sleeping bag, and a thermarest here. I'm good to go in that department. (my stove is off in Africa at the moment though).

Like I said, I'm up for it, but if it's going to be only a few of us, I'd just as soon help Jon get da'40 ready to go.

Dan, I have a stove you can use.

I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. Have fun!

We can't make it either. Family visiting.

I think I'll stay home to work on the cruiser. As Jon pointed out: "work first, then play." Since it's a frame, a tub, and a pile of parts at the moment, it's probably a good idea. Especially since I stand a good chance of finishing the bodywork before Sunday, which would be a HUGE milestone.

So, I'm out.

Dan

ok, so looks like it is scrapped at the moment. i am going camping again July 17th, i got a friday off. probably going out wed or thurs.
i will still be going out this weekend with just my family for Sat, Sun.

Maybe this site should be called ih8offroading.com instead...??? I just recently moved here and have been looking for people to go wheeling with. Everytime I check this club's threads about runs, nothing ever happens. It seems everyone bails at the last minute???? Am I missing something???

mudlvr,
you got to wait until at least the 3rd post to point out stuff like this so we don't hate you after the first post.

At least introduce yourself and tell us what you drive so we can give you a proper welcome.:flipoff2:

One little word ... :ban: :ban: :ban: (J/K)

Welcome to our little piece of MUD. :flipoff2: <= offical MUD welcome salute

Sometimes our lives get in the way of play. This is especially true for over night runs as it can be hard to pull a group together. Between families, work, home, and projects it can be difficult to schedule multiple families to be in the same place at the same time for more than an afternoon or evening. I would really like to go this weekend, but like was said already, work first ... play later. I was raised by the son of Polish emmigrants, and a Missouri farm girl, both who grew up during the Great Depression. That ethic has stuck.

Did you miss the CM09 thread? High Desert Cruisers had a fine showing at that event.

Then there was the impromptu run with Lance from Iron Pig we did in March. Several of us made this quick last minute run. I seem to recall a few other short notice runs where folks went out to the Puerco as well.

So really, I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Do you have a name?

Since you joined 'Mud yesterday and you didn't mention how long you have been lurking it is unclear if you have been reading posts for 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks, or 2 days.

It is also a good idea to attend a meeting so you can get to know the group and ask questions about whether a particular outing makes sense for you or not. What is your experience level? What are you driving? What are your interests?

Another suggestion is to ask if anyone is up for a quick day trip somewhere close. This will give you an opportunity to explore a local trail and get to know 1 or 2 club members. We have several guys that work weekends and are off during the week. We have several guys that "work" for federal, state, and local governments so they pretty much take off any day of the week and nobody misses them. ;) Others (like me) work 16 hour days, 7 days a week so those precious days off are few and far between. :D

Welcome to the HDC section here on 'Mud and let us know a bit more about you, your family, and your vehicle.

Hey! I resemble that remark. :D

Jealous?

Just for that I'm going home. :D

i am at home. :grinpimp:

mudlvr, don't get discouraged and don't take offense to anything said here. it's all in the name of fun. most of the people here on our section have know eachother for many years, and so the joking may seem over the top at times (or serious when it's actually not).

we do have several good multi day trips, this just came up more recently and the begining of summer is hard to get several families with the same schedule as pappy said. we have our own Moab trip in October that has been wildly successful, and Thrill on the Hill in Sept that many have been to. we mostly do day runs. those get more turn out. May was Cruise Moab, so no club run. this one was to be camping, but harder to do multi day. so basically, 2 months of not much local, but it will happen. keep your eyes open for last minute stuff that comes up, scheduled day runs in the future and come to a meeting to meet everyone. it really is a fun, easygoing group.

Shawn

mudlvr, if you need something to do on Saturday I know a fella looking for a fourth hand. Bring your diesel. :grinpimp:
