Congrats on your new family member!!!
Well, thanks, but kinda premature. Fostering him, for DRNM.

MyBella is becoming quite the :princess:: last time we had a k9 sleepover she went from "oh goodie, you brought me a friend, lemme see, lemme see" to "no, that's mine, and that's mine, and that's mine" to "MOM, he's breathing MY air!" in about 6 hours.

I'm in no rush: Bella & I are enjoying life solo, for now. She's come a LOOONG way from the sad lil girl I saw in the pound mug shot.

...our myopia is based on where our money goes (How much is that tax payer money is wasted?). Yes, we need some form of infrastructure to help those that can't make their way on thier own. I am not saying taxes are not necessary, it is a convience for all of us to have roads, plumbing, etc...But yes, I agree with Carol that this should be in chat. This conversation can go on for years.

In my defense, I too pay taxes...... which also funds SCHOOLS, for human children that I don't (and won't) have.

And I'd prefer my road not to have been paved, but I like having lower insurance because of the fire hydrant within a half mile, so I'll just keep drinking my well water and wondering what the hell my tax dollars are going to allegedly TEACH those children, who will no doubt one day become the boss of one of us in this discussion. :meh:

Not that I agree with the way we get taxed and O outspends that. They could have declared a moratorium on income taxes for a year and that would have been about a trillion dollars. Now *that* would have been a stimulus to the economy, and given working people (whoever they work for) the benefit.

I apologize if you (or Steve) took a direct offense to my comments. In no way am I saying to abolish taxes (for government emloyees) to provide for infrastructure, police, rescue and emergency issues. Oh, schools, I don't mind paying for that either. I would perfer kids to learn, rather than run to the streets and create chaos. Parents don't always do that these days. As far for emergecy, it is nice to know that you are standing by in case something happens. Can't speak for Mike, but it seems a lot of money is wasted. Last post for me about this. Let's see some pics from the run!

LOL - Y'all in the service industries are a little myopic. How many customers do you think you'd have if there wasn't any infrastructure?

Hey, I'm OK with paying taxes. Been doing it for 50+ years. All I did was politely ask for someone to remind me why we pay taxes. :D

Jon had the best answer and I don't mind paying him and funding the garden. It is a nice place and they have summer concerts and they don't kill people with nukes. I think the world would be better if all our tax $$ went to pay for rose gardens. (and maybe a little tax $$ for roads, water, and sewage infrastructure.)

wow, you guys need to go camping and get away from it all for a while. oh wait, that's what this thread was for. :flipoff2: I went and had a good adventure for all of you.

first, i get home to pack quick and get outta town. Jill isn't home and calls to say she is at Target getting more supplies and can't unlock the car. i drive over there to find she was at the wrong car. ours was 3 cars down behind a big SUV.
back home, packed and left. it's raining the whole drive up. we pass Ali and family on hwy 4. they were going to meet us there, but were tired from already camping 8 days and the rain wasn't making it any fun. no problem, we continued on. we hit our turn off from 126 and it is ghooy, muddy. you know, Jemez clay. i locked into 4wd (yes i had to wheel the limo length Ford), and up we went. only slipped off the road once and got back on w/o stopping, but i was very uncomfortable since we were alone. lots of sliding sideways, back end fishtailing... 1/2 mile in and i told Jill we had to turn around. luck would have it, at the first turn around op., was a perfect camping spot. i figured nobody else was crazy enough to try what we just did, so we wouldn't see anyone anyway. I was right. a light drizzle hit for a few mintutes only 3 times, and the day was great! a hike this morning up the road we stopped on, we saw 4 deer and lots of cool wildflowers and such. the sun dried out the road and the drive out was solid, no slippage in 2wd.

Happy Father's Day!

and a couple more. and yes i needed a flare to start a campfire, all the wood was drenched.

Geez, I was beginning to think nobody was going to bite on that one.

Shawn, sounds like you guys had a great time, despite the muck and light rain. As long as you're staying dry, rain in the forest is such a wonderful experience.

If nukes are outlawed only outlaws will have nukes...

Shawn, did you see any hippies starting to show up for the Rainbow Family gathering? That 'officially' starts in a week. The epicenter is about 20 miles east of Cuba but I wouldn't be surprised if they are all around the area, kind of like cockroaches all around my neighborhood when the sun goes down.

I don't have the heart to tell my inlaws what they might encounter with their camping trip planned for the Jemez this weekend. Plus, I'd like to hear some good stories.

... I'm still impressed with how beautiful New Mexico is. That looks beautiful! Dan

with all the rain we've had, it was maybe the greenest i've ever seen it. that is a gorgeous area anyway and that particular road/area has been very good for us. several camping trips and we almost never see anyone, and the road is fairly easy when dry.

Marc, no hippies that i could spot. lots of people camp right along 126. mostly pickups and such, no VW vans. :D looks like everyone is going camping except you.:flipoff2::D
