Maybe this site should be called ih8offroading.com instead...??? I just recently moved here and have been looking for people to go wheeling with. Everytime I check this club's threads about runs, nothing ever happens. It seems everyone bails at the last minute???? Am I missing something???

I figure wrenching instead of wheeling is a decent trade. It's not as if we're bailing to go to buy curtains and doilies.

x2 that if you're looking for something to do, I'm going to Jon's to help with the marathon schedule of da'40. It'll be good practice for the marathon schedule of our 40, and probably the 45 after it....

We have several guys that work weekends and are off during the week. We have several guys that "work" for federal, state, and local governments so they pretty much take off any day of the week and nobody misses them. Others (like me) work 16 hour days, 7 days a week so those precious days off are few and far between.

Don't forget those of us who have no discernible schedule. The most accurate way of knowing if I've got the day off is that if I bid for it off--I'm working.

Welcome Mudluvr :flipoff2::flipoff2:
Most weekend this government worker could get away for a quick run, just not this weekend. If I ran off this weekend, Christi would change the door locks, sell all my stuff and tell me and my cruiser to go find a new place to live!

Thread hijack over...

thanks Kirk. we'll keep that one in mind!

Another suggestion is to ask if anyone is up for a quick day trip somewhere close.

.... We have several guys that "work" for federal, state, and local governments so they pretty much take off any day of the week and nobody misses them.

I resemble that remark as well. Don't forget the 'easy' Cedro run we did this spring, you know, the one where the dobers were like popcorn in the back of my flat 60. :p

I'm generally game for an East Mtn run, specially since I gotta show off my lifted rig & rack sliders. I work 10 days a month, that leaves 20 to wheel...

We'll be somewhere on FS-117 camping starting Friday night. On saturday, between 8 - 9 am, I'll try to hit a megalink repeater and if Mike/Steve/Jon are listening, I can report our GPS coordinates. Shawn and Jill (and whoever else) can then meet up with us at our camping spot!

Thanks,

whew! this is good. we can go back to calling it ih8mud again instead of ih8offroading. :flipoff2::steer:

I resemble that remark as well.

Its starting to look like the whole club is either unemployed, independently wealthy, or is employed by some branch of the gub'mint. None of those qualifies as work. :flipoff2:

I think Rudy, Dan, and I are the only working peons left in HDC and Dan gets about 10 weeks of vacation each year so he doesn't count.

Remind me again why we pay taxes?

You don't pay taxes ... you pay me!

Details like drinking water and other underground piping so there's not sewage running down the (dirt) road in front of your house...

And, in your case ... customers.

Gees Mike, be nice to them. Think on the bright side! If we don't work our butts off, who will we get to go wheeling with when we have those few elusive days of freedom?

What is your point? Growing up for me, was digging our own wells, digging our own spectic tanks, and call me crazy, but I think my Cruiser can make down a dirt road :flipoff2: .

I prefer drinking beer and I live pretty much at the top of the hill so my sewage is someone else's problem. Like Rudy, I can handle a dirt road without much drama.

And, in your case ... customers.

I'll give you that one Stevie. One outta four is close enough for government work. :D

sheesh, ya'll need to go to Chat & start a thread bashing gubment workers.... :flipoff2:

you're just jealous.

LOL - Y'all in the service industries are a little myopic. How many customers do you think you'd have if there wasn't any infrastructure?

And how many customers do you think you'd have if we didn't have a 'nuclear deterrent' and we were all living in a communist country where the official language is Russian? Wait, we're almost half-way there thanks to the Messiah. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's Chinese in 20 years.

I just realized this is a thread about the June camping trip that I didn't go on. Back on topic? I suppose the only folks it really matters to are camping right now anyway.

Good catch. Can't wait to see what they have to say when they see what we did to their thread. :whoops:

BOT, I had been thinking about doing a quickie overnight to Cochiti, see what my dobergirl thinks about water, and camping. Then I got a call about a doberboy who was scheduled to take a dirt nap, so I went & snagged him from certain doom. Since I don't know much about his temperment, the beach-like playtime will be put on hold.

If & when I do go, ya'll are invited. In the mean time, anybody what as wants to borrow a couple of old-skuul whitewater kayaks is welcome to do so...

I prefer drinking beer...

In case you have not heard Mike, we get taxed on that too. You are not helping :hillbilly: !

Steve, you are taking this a bit too serious. I am sure our myopia is based on where our money goes (How much is that tax payer money is wasted?). Yes, we need some form of infrastructure to help those that can't make their way on thier own. I am not saying taxes are not necessary, it is a convience for all of us to have roads, plumbing, etc...But yes, I agree with Carol that this should be in chat. This conversation can go on for years.
