Noticed a LOT more leakage under my truck after getting an oil change at jiffy lube. At first I thought the PO May have been using something other than the conventional oil I got. Pulled out the dipstick and noticed I am way over the full line. How much extra is ok? A mm or two? Should I just dump it and start fresh, or let it leak to a reasonable level? Are these dipsticks on 60 series even accurate?

I noticed on my 3-FE after putting in 8.5 quarts in it read over filled. Not like I’m going to leak any more oil than it does already, however I don’t know how a dipstick can be inaccurate.

That's too much. I overfilled my 2F once and I just got underneath and let some of it out. It's possible with disposable gloves and a light touch.

On my 2F, when I ran the engine to warm it up, then drained the oil pan until it dripped out slowly, then removed the standard size oil filter…. Adding 8.25 quarts of new oil brought the oil level on the dip stick to the Full line after starting the engine after the fill and running it a minute or so - then shutting down and checking.

It looks like in the pic above, that there’s almost another 3/4 to 1 full quart extra oil in the pan.
An extra 3/4” height of the oil in the pan won’t hit the crankshaft, so it won’t be churned up, but even still… I’d rather not have the oil too far above the Full line.
(I’d drain some out).

you want accuracy on a dip stick? drain pan empty, put in prescribed amount, check oil level n mark dip stick. after that when checking oil, park in exactly the same spot every time. if you're really anal, mark each quart/litre as you fill :flipoff2:

It'll be messy, but unscrew the oil filter and drain the oil out of it (keeping the filter clean), then put it back on and run the motor again, briefly, like 20 seconds, check dipstick again after 5 mins, and repeat as necessary. You have too much oil in the crankcase and the rotating crankshaft can foam the too high oil and cause all kinds of foockery.

Jiffy lube sucks. Learn to do it yourself then you're assured of getting the right amount and an oil that is PROPER for your antique 2F !!! There isn't a vehicle on earth that's easier to change the oil, except maybe a Tesla. ;) Used oil is easily disposed of at any Autozone.

If you have the LARGE filter, it will hold about 3/5 of a qt.

The last time I went to iffylube they tried to upsell me a airfilter. They had pulled it out to show me it was kinda dirty. I said no I do that at home. After I left, I got two calls from a number I didn't recognize. I answered the second call and it was the iffy lube tech who requested I come back immediately he would not tell me why just that i needed to come back. When I arrived back the tech ran out with my air filter in his hand. I was pissed and said never again. It was convient because they were just down from my work and i got half off a conventional oil change coupons regularly in the mail. Given it was my old commuter Avalon but thats not right.

Your first fail was going to jiffy lube begin with. They have a proven 40 year history of messing up vehicles.
take it back to them and tell them to drain it out.

Almost right - don't go back there, and drain it yourself.

Yup, I played myself. Going to try and drain some out to get to a reasonable level. And never going back to Jiffy Lube again...

Avoid any quick lube places and Wally world at all cost. Learn how to do it and pat yourself in the back.
