Ok this may have been asked before but where is the best place to mount a jerry can on the back of my 40. I'm not looking to install the swing out carrier. I'm just looking for a solid place to mount this thing. TIA

There are two opinions on this, on top of the bumperette and with a jerry can holder that goes over your spare. I vote for the over the spare.

I vote for next to your spare...above your bumperette.

bummer.... that is a link I kept for this often asked question, and since the link is still active, I never visit the actual splash page of the site.

also try eBay or just search Google or post in Wanted Parts here on Mud as one might find these parts. Not unavailable, was just the 1 place I pointed people to go that had it all in 1 spot. It still gives visual representations of the products possible to mount cans.

is downey toyota still around they used to carry all that stuff for the jerry cans had some years ago and they worked good . except i kept backing into trees and smashed the cans and was rear ended twice and 1 can split open ,and yes they were the good ones good luck

Jerry Can

I have seen one mounted on driver side up off the running board but it covers that side vent. Looked good though

I like the look of a jerry can mounted to the side of the rear fender. not practical mut cool lookin. IMO

I'm following this build thread on another forum of a can carrier and tire mount... can't wait to see the finished product.......

Cripes, looks flimsy, like a jeep carrier.

Arrggg, I was so busy looking at the carrier I didn't notice the screwdriver or xacto knife.

Dang thats the exactly the stuff I need. I have the blitz jerry can mounting base but no can. It was originally mounted on my drivers side front fender. Is it practical to mount it inside on the rear wheel well?

I have a gas can and a water can mounted on the top of the rear fender wells. I'm sure that if your running with a top on, it might not be a good idea to have it inside?? but it's been very convenient for me. It fits well right under the rear roll cage support.
