January Charlotte Area Meeting Sunday 1/13

Charlotte Area Meeting
Who: Cruiser addicts in the greater-Charlotte area
What: Meeting to drink beer and share knowledge
When: Sunday, 1/3 @ 3:30 pm
Where: Mac's Speed Shop (Steele Creek location)
Why: Does it really matter when there is good food and beer involved?

UPDATE - Cleaning has been postponed to spring. Rafael and I traded messages earlier this week and I told him the engine bay on my 40 was long overdue for a good cleaning. He suggested several of us in the Charlotte area might want to go in on renting a high pressure steam cleaner, thinking the cost to rent one for the day would be ~ $200.

I'd never seen one of these in action before so I went on YouTube and watched a few videos. It seems to be safe to use around electronics/sensors found in newer vehicles and there isn't a lot of water run off like I had imagined. My boss has made the mistake of pressure washing his engine bay several times resulting lots of electronic problems.

All this being said, is there any interest in our next "meeting" being at someone's house where all of us could chip in on the cost of the rental and some shop towels and stand around and drink beer? If not, is this an idea better suited for spring/summer? We can certainly plan on heading to Mac's again.

PM me with your thoughts and dates this month that work best for you. I've got a goal of naming the time and place no later than Wednesday 1/9/13.

I'm waiting on my work calendar to confirm and fill for the month but I'd like to do this. Might be able to augment with a non-cruiser buddy if needed to further defray the cost. My house or my work location (large, flat and paved) can probably be on the table.

Time wise, I'm planning on being at the HAMOM Saturday 19th. Sundays are better for me at this point.

Sounds good to me don't know witch one to clean hj or stout but count me in when ever and where ever it is

Just cruisers!!! Hehe

45 pretty much clean stout has never been washed

I'm interested, depending on the date. I will finally have another cruiser tomorrow!

dont know if i will make this, I plan to be at the work weekend.....but FWIW pressure wash the motor when its warm with the engine running....dont blast the electricals hard , and you may even find a vacuum leak (judging how the engine runs while doing it)

Ok. The shippest one is $170 a day. Plus all the extras. Normally i will rent it with insurance in the case that something happen i dont have to pick the bill up. There is a bigger one for $230 a day. The more people we get the shipper per person it will be. I will expect a bill of no more than $300 after fuel, taxes, insurance, etc. we have two big events this month. The hamon and the ure work day then, when can we do this that we have the most people? There are two location offered.

John vees shop or my lot. On ly problem with mine is that i have to fill up the water tank in order to have water. No big deal for me! Then lets go ahead and put some days out there to get the ball rolling if we want to do this.

Prices are listed in sunbelt rentals. I normally get a bit of a discount because the business acount.

It has been a looooong day working on said cruiser but we got a bunch done... More good stuff coming

Okay, so it seems somethings got lost in translation. Rafael was referring to a pressure washer that also heats the water, not a high pressure steam cleaner like I'd thought and see used on YouTube. I called around and no one has what I saw on the YouTube video.

Although the temps this weekend are expected to be ~70 degrees, I suggest that we wait until springtime to rent a pressure washer like Rafael was referring to.

That being said, I think we should stick with Mac's again this month. As there is a HAMOM on 1/19 and a URE workday on 1/26, how about we meet either for beers this Sunday (1/13) or two weeks from then (1/27)?

You have to speak spanish for me to understand!!! It is hard to dont loose something on translation.

I dont think the 27 is going to work for me. If i go to ure i wont be going to max's. wife will kill me!!

I'd also like to push back the cleanings till later in the year. I've never cleaned an engine and the steam thing sounded awesome, but maybe a break can give us more research time. I'd hate to lose a nice warm weekend like the upcoming, but that's the nature of the South, I guess. We can still keep my shop as a possible location for cleanings or other dependent upon the time.

My vote is for 13 or 20 at Macs. And I'll be struggling to make anything but the 13 this month. Most of my work this month is crammed into 18-27. My plan is to be at the HAMOM on the 19, but I most likely will be gone for the URE day on 26 - crap keeps coming in.
