Such an awesome build… I’d love to have mine that nice some day.

No pic of the 5.3?? That is a great upgrade from the pathetic 130 horse renault engine!!! Truck looks great Jack!!!

Here's roughly what it would look like if it had a 400 hp 5.7L... :D

Got a 73 to keep me company......

Is that an orange 73? My ex wife cousin bought an orange 73 FHT new in 1973. I bought his stock wheels and hub caps in the later 70s. By the time we got a divorce in the 80s he has already sold it and moved on. Arizona vehicle be the same one. Got lucky and because my 73 was off the road by 88 it still has the original orange and green license plates.

Yes. The guy said he bought it from the original owner. The inside paint looked great.
It also had what he said was a dealer installed ConFer package. Roof rack, front and rear tool boxes and hitch point.

Probably not the same 40. Do not remember any roof rack or front tool box. I do remember it had an aftermarket A/C which was just above worthless in Phoenix during the summer.

Car show last weekend and running the toughest trail so far this weekend. Ran Turkey Creek then went up to the DeSoto mine. Spotted this Nissan Patrol with a few other vintage rigs.
Fake 45 did well for only having 31's. The no power steering is a nice work out too.

Looks great Jack! Really outstanding work.

Added my repop vintage style AZ novelty plate. I also acquired a correct vintage plate that I will eventually register for the truck. I search for something with some meaning because this was before vanity plates were offered.

My 70 FJ40 is using the 73 plate that was on my 68 when I bought it in 1974. This one was on here just for the picture.

Few years back I bought a front and rear AZ plates from 1969. Couple days later found the next number plate. These came different states, neither of which was AZ. Because my 73 FST and 89 FJ62 when plates transfered with the vehicle these both have had only one plate since new. Because any plate can prove it was previously on a vehicle you own it's not considered a vanity plate and no extra fee to use. Can't remember when AZ replaced the orange with green letters was replaced by the maroon white letters. That was the late time they were used. Had no issues when I said it was a plate previously used on a vehicle I owned. I have a set of 64 plates to use 9/64 FJ45. Still have the copper historical plates I ran on my 68 for a while but doubt I could get away without the vanity plate fee since they originally were a vanity plate. Even if I had to pay a vanity fee would rather use a period correct plate than having one of the multiple specifically plates available in AZ.

Took blue to the mountains today. Same area as last week. Explored a new route. It was way rougher than expected. I can't believe I didn't break a tail light, just bent the bracket.
Then we cruised some easy forest roads. First 2 pix are of the old train tunnel. Next 2 are the mine area......one from 1902 and one from today.

what are door stops... 🤷‍♂️

Isn't that what front fenders are for?

The mirrors are good door stops too.
My '74 mirrors are attached to the doors so they aren't very good door stops. :(
