J60 Glove Box Replacement

A couple things I would like to address for the next round.

• Change angle of the sides so that they align match the Land Cruisers glove box opening.
• Glove boxes will be made to order based on opening width.
• Enlarge the slots for the bottom flange to allow for more adjustment when installing.

When these become available for sale I might make the following items an option.

• Add LED light
• Add neoprene or rubber mat for bottom of glove box

I have been including a hole for the stock light, I've got the light to fit into my 60. @Dekeman and @mdw83fj60 have photos on this thread showing the stock light installed as well. Although I think the upgraded LED will be a better addition.

I went up and picked up a prototype. Popped it in this morning. Fit and finish are top notch. The light fits in just like it should. It all lines up and closes like it should.

Okay I have an update. I wasn't happy with the way the sides aligned with the opening of the glove box so I adjusted those to look better, hopefully it works for other cruisers. I also enlarged the bottom mounting holes/slots for flexibility when installing.

Next thing is to try and figure out a common location to mount a small LED for those that want the LED option. I am going to order some of these LED's from oznium.com to see if they will fit where I have the stock light location on the left side. I have already sourced a connector for these that will work with stock light connector, so these will be plug and play.

Feel free to chime in with mounting locations for the LED if there is a better location.

Is there enough room to mount them on the top of the box pointing down? Like are the led housings shallow enough? Where the stock location is pretty useless when I have stuff in my glove box and the light always gets blocked by the stuff in my glove box

Or even a led strip across the back/top, then no depth issues at all?

@dbbowen depending on where they’re positioned core and aft, they should clear. There’s that HVAC duct above them, but as I recall it’s towards the back of the glove box, more towards the front of the vehicle.

Been a while since I was in that area. I stuck a Midland speaker on top of the duct for my GMRS radio - right underneath the speaker opening on the dash.

oh nice. yeah a top down lighting across the top would be far more useful than the stock location which was added as an afterthought i think in the original. Even adding a strip like @BurntToast suggested would be miles better than whats inthere now

I like the idea of a strip across the top or one on either side of the latch on top. I agree with others that the stock location is all but useless to actually see inside of a moderately full glove box.
