Also, don't know if it helps but SOR has a part number for it, as if they have had the part in the past.

Another thought. Did someone say that Toyota would have sold this in central america? I ask becasue I am thinking of the 45 troopy build last year the Cohen did and the pictures of the part stores down in Ecuador. Wondering if we reach out to the folks in that region to keep their eye open.

I tried EBAY germany, france and did not find any in current or historical sales.

Good luck. If we all put our mind to it... who knows?

Don't know how long you are willing to wait, but i can get my hands on one of those center pieces. Problem is that i'm swamped in work and really can't do shipping any sooner than late february or early march.
PM me if you're interested and i'll look after it for you.

3rd week in Feb. I will be in your neck of the woods. I saw Poser on Friday night when I was in Minnepolis, picked up a seat from him. He mentioned that as well, we will plan on getting together at some point that weekend.

Going to take me a little longer than the past rigs on this one, you know my deal. ;)

Finally got a chance to get back the the troopy, and not a lot to show for it either. Took a couple pics of the crate I started to build, probably about 2.5 hours into, and I'm sure I will have at least that into it tomorrow and then some.

Also took a pic of my 79 FJ40 parts rig out back, at least what's left of it. Some of you may of remember it from the lv thread, lot of parts came off it and went into that. Well...I need a few more, parts that is. I had to plow a road back to it and my neighbor came over and helped me drag it out. Bit of a pain in the ass, but able to get it out and pushed into the shop. Let it thaw out for a few days and then start cutting the parts I need off.

What did I miss here, why are you crating up the tub?

Tucker

You aren't missing anything. I haven't quite filled the group in yet on my plans.

I had a plan, and it change a couple times in the last couple weeks based on some un-forseen variables that came into play.

I will get to it here shortly. ;)

Hi Matt,

Just happened to spot over on MUD and saw your post. I see the LV is not on your list. Did you sell it? I have been working on my 912 Porsche. The LV got put on hold when I started the Porsche.

Not much more to report. Last chance I got to work on it was last Thursday night, finially getting around to posting pics.

Just pics of the almost completed crate, also a few pics of some templates I made of certain things. I won't be seeing this tub again and the new one won't have any holes in it so I needed to take quite a few measurements of some certain things.

Hoping to work on it tomorrow afternoon and finish it up.

Hope eveyone had a good xmas!!!!

All I want for Christmas is to know what you are doing.....

Did you find the Aqula 4 door aluminum Tub?

I know, but i'll let Matt do the honours...

Been getting some work done, although not a lot of good pics to show for it. Just one of those things where you get in the zone and don't really think of breaking out the camera.

First pic was taken last Tuesday, pic of the truck the crate and body I had just loaded it into...it's off! So, nothing real special.

Next few pics were taken today, took the day to get some work done. The one pic is of an 81 FJ40 I had bought about the same time I bought the troopy with the intention of parting out. Along with several other parts I intended on using one of them was the front cowl. My initial plan was to cut the troopy and the 40 at the factory welds at the A pillar and across the floor. Swap the entire fron cowl section for a LHD conversion. Some things have changes, so obviously that is not going to happen. My neighbor wants to buy it also so I am will be using some parts off the 81 and some off the 79 lv parts rig. The parts I am using off the 79 are used to keep the 81 running and functional. One of the parts I am swapping out from the 81 FJ40 is the front troopy axle and the rear 3rd member.

So that was mostly todays job. I started the day by swapping out the entire front axle. Reason for this is that essentially the axles are the same, except for the vented backing plate on the troopy. It seemed easier to swap the axles vs disassembling the 3rd member and having to take apart the brakes, spindels and birfields. The 81 FJ40 axle had never been out, so it took a fair amount of massaging to make that happen. I had a buddy of mine helping me today, he was a huge help when it came to massaging some of these parts out. After a couple hours, we got that front troopy axle in the 81 and the 81 axle out. Then it was on to rear axle.

I've never taken apart a 3rd member before, but I had spoke to Poser prior to doing this and he assured me that it was within my skill set. It took a couple hours, and I couple phone calls to Poser while it was happening, but it went pretty good. Thanks Steve, sorry to bother you several times today!! So, I still have the orginal troopy rear axle, with the 81 FJ40 3rd member.

Had about an extra hour this evening and I wanted to get that 2H motor off the pallet and onto some sort of stand. I have no intention of tearing it apart, but would like to give it the jiffy tune up, so it needed to be some what mobile so I could move it easly and take a few parts off. You can see a few pics I took of the stand I made, took about an hour to cut and weld up. I had a few used lawn mower tires laying around, so used those, rolls extremely well. This will allow me to take the tranny isolation mount off to blast and paint. Pressure wash and hose down with laquer thinner easily. Pull a few parts off to blast or polish, also give the whole thing the basic PPG overhaul.

Crappy pic, but still would like to ask a question to the 2H guys.

I am planning on taking the header off to blast and then send off and have it ceramic coated. Is the exhaust gasket hard to come by? Is it a stock exhaust gasket or is it some aftermarket gasket specific to that header?

Thanks, Matt
