THis alt. came with my 76-40.but the OEM volt regulator its not in use( still have the plug) The alt. its connected to a short circuit box,everything came like that when i got the 40, i just replace the cables ,but i will like to know if anyone here does reconize this one,could be a toyota up grade? i gues it's not a 150 amp mean green( i went to mean green web and not look like), and also i do a search BEFORE made my post... Who can point to a web link here or just said "hey men you have..."

lol pinhead,,it's a 4 ga. cabe,just in case that i replace the alt. later. Also i was wondering if the PO order a special alt.with this company...High Output Nippodenso Heavy Duty Toyota Truck Alternators 4x4 Parts & Accessories the code plug its 230,also notice in the picture below that the oem voltage regulator it's not even in use. I guess i have to made a few test on different rpm's using my Fluke clamp meter to check this issue.. with the winch in use and no winch( my 8274-50 have 1/0 ga to supply juice and 2 ga wires for the coils via 300 amp in-line fuse)..not bad.

The regulator(short circuit box) as you call it in pic#2 is FoMoCo....
The alternator looks like 30 amp 40 standard issue.........

Looks like it's been modified to a one wire setup with some sort of protector on it.. Who knows what has been done on the inside.

I'm pretty sure it's not a Remy alt for a Kia. And the pic above ain't it.

That number on the barcode is a generic form from Scanco. It's used on an accounting software package for POS and warehouse systems. Low end systems. I would say its a regular rebuild or it's something special the PO had done at a local shop. Some times they paint the the plates a different color so they know they were the ones who built it.


Id just take it to a shop and have them test it. They should be able to tell you exactly what it has. Most places will do it for free.

I'm assuming your amp meter is not functional.

And just what gauge wire do you recommend for a 200 amp alternator?

It would depend on whether that is 200 A continuous duty or not, but just to be safe, 1 or 0 gauge should do it. You don't see any manufacturer use 4 ga wire with a 40 amp alternator.
