adjustable rear upper control arms from Slee

I had some vibs at 41 mph to 45 mph. Between the new U joints and the geometry now correct between the rear diff and driveshaft, my vibs are gone!:bounce::cheers:

I want. Nuff said. :bang:

Landtank MAF

I purchased and installed Landtank's MAF a few weeks back. Immediately I was having a hesitation from a stop and very little throttle response followed by a CEL. Per my scangauge I was throwing a P0171 code then looked up the code here (https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/104399-cel-codes-list-1997-fzj.html). After researching how to attack the problem I was relieved to see that many other people have had this issue and there was an easy fix. I crimped the spring tabs as suggested by Landtank and my hesitation and lack of throttle response went away.

The weird thing is that I'm still throwing the same code and my shift points are all screwed up. I figured I needed to let the ECU catch up to the new sensor and added air - it's been over a week and my issue is still there. Before the redesigned MAF, I wasn't having any of these problems.
Could an exhaust leak cause this but not show itself until I added this mod?

Maybe I missed it, but have you tried disconnecting the battery? Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect. After a few drive cycles it should relearn your new configuration.Worth a try..

How hard would it be to swap the old MAF back in and try it for a while...

Dont know about the exhaust leak, maybe could be an exhaust sensor.

Not hard at all... 20 minutes if that.

You think the exhaust sensor coincidentally went bad at the same time? The only new variable is the new housing and new sensor.

I disconnected the battery when I was installing the new housing. Should I do it again?:meh:

I would go at it like this. Eliminate the last thing that was done before the problem started (MAF) in this case and see if the issue is still there. That should be the first step in diagnosing this.

I'm doing this now...

Also is the MAF sensor new or used?
New sensor installed by landtank.

Probably not, which is why I mentioned the MAF first.
But if your new MAF is out a bit from your old one then it could be in combination with something else.

I would play with your MAF for a bit though and see if you can find anything.

Gotta love the diagnostic tool eh!

Mike,
Did you swap the wiring in the MAF plug? When I did mine a few years ago, I had to swap a few wires around in the plug in order for the new MAF to work correctly as per Landtanks instruction sheet. If you did, check to make sure they are pushed in all the way, are secure in there and are actually making contact.

alright... I've swapped out the new with the old and cleared my CEL. I drove 8 miles and threw no codes. When I punched it - it went. So now what?!?

However, on this dreary June gloom of a day in SD, I did notice my intake temps were back in the upper 90's. When I drove around with the landtank maf they never reached higher than 86, even with it hotter outside.

I did. I used his directions. Checked and double checked. Even posted a pic to make sure I wasn't missing something. I had to go back and crimp the connections to get rid of my hesitation - which it did.

Those shocks look pretty sweet. Look forward to hearing how they perform.
