I'm wanting to re paint the 80 in two tone I want a smooth finish on top white and bottom half textured orange And it all to be in bed liner which do u like better ? Monstaliner or durback. And how has it held up to the abuse and sun thanks

I have spoke to a few people who say that is has some thing in it which will not allow the sun to break it down. I am in AZ so we get the harshest of the sun and I have had two different kinds both of which faded and did not look great over time. However they were not the brands you identified. I want to pain the lover portion of my rig so I too am interested.

I've used both, Durabak on my '40 inner tub, and I put Monstaliner outside whole body on a FJ62.
I would strongly recommend the Monstaliner because the surface roughness of the Durabak is fine for the inside protection, but it has rubber crumbs in it and it faded a bit over time.
The Monstaliner went on very smooth, two coats covered well, no rubber crumbs to create a rough texture. I really liked the texture I ended up with and so far it looks like it's withstood the sun, no fading. I sold it to a guy down my street and I see it almost every day, still looks good.

Here's the link to the '62: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/monstalinerd-the-62-this-weekend.602282/

G'luck, Dan.

Both have a UV protectant. Durabak has the smooth liner and Monsta has the orange. So both would be good. I just looked at both again and they look to use the same roller so I don't see how the texture would be different between the two really. Make sure to order color chips too and tape them in different spots on the truck to see how it'll look. @Chachie We live in Fresno which gets hit pretty hard by the sun too. I see a lot of cars with UV damaged paint around here. I'd like to hear what brand that is you're talking about. Anything that can stand up to the AZ desert I'm sure would do well here also. I can't find any info on the Durabak but Monstaliner has a 5 year warranty on the uv protection against chalking and fading.

Monsta, but im biased

If you want it smooth I would spray on. I have Durabac that I rolled on and it's almost a stucco wall! Then we sprayed on Al's Liner for my buddies cruiser and it is so much more like a plastic dip. It seems to be much less porous than mine and a 100 x's smoother. Mine has faded a little over 6 years but does not look bad.

Love my monstaliner. I have done the whole outside of my 80. I get numerous comments on it from strangers. No chipping, cracking, or fading so far.

Thanks for the input it looks like there more monstaliner. Lovers than duraback keep them comin in

Both good, find out who can do the best deal for you

I vote for Monsta, but it is the only one I have experience with. I liked it so much that I have a one gallon kit to line my roof white. Easier to work with than I had thought even though I had read a ton on others who have used it before me. My 2 cents anyway!
